Vessel PLAYER III STAND (3.0)

Recommended Posts

For those who own the Vessel Players 3 14-way, how has your experience been using it on a cart? I've read that the dividers are obviously set up for carrying with driver/woods next to the putter well but that would be the reverse for placing it on a cart as woods/driver are usually furthest from putter well. Do you just switch the clubs around when going from carrying to riding on a cart?

Does Vessel have a distributor for EU (excl. UK)?

Really want to get one but the only option I've found is to directly import one from the US

I have the same „issue“ as well. Tried to find a distributor in Europa but couldn’t find one. Contacted Vessel directly and I was told Casetellana Golf in Madrid is a distributor. I’ll contacted them to see if they only sell in Spain or also ship to European countries. Fingers crossed they do..

My Player 3 DXR is out for delivery today.  I’ll get 2 rounds in with it this weekend.  I liked my Grey Player 3, but I’ll enjoy having the nylon in the pocket/body area more I believe,

I’ll update after a couple rounds.

@Hougz79 - can you confirm the top configuration is different on the DXR than on the players 3?  Thanks!

Does anyone put their Player III on a push cart? I have a Clicgear 4 and an old electric cart. My aging, but still pretty nice, Nike carry bag is oval shaped with the stand base on the lower part of the bag that sits flush against the cart's bag supports, if that makes any sense. This results in the bag tending to turn sideways where it sits a little more comfortably against the push cart. But it's still awkward and it makes one of the sides harder to get at if I want something in a side pocket.

I'm hoping that the Player III would sit more gracefully on push carts. I don't want a cart bag all that much because I go to the range more than I play and still have plenty of need for a stand bag. Switching between bags, if I had both a cart and stand bag would be OK, but it's kind of a pain.

Another question—what's the virtue of a 6 way compared to a 14 way? I ask that as someone who's had the latter for a long time.

I use mine with a Clicgear 4.  Zero issues.  Fits great, doesn’t move at all.

Thanks to both of you!

Seems like lots of carry bags won't sit appropriately on push carts. Certainly mine doesn't. Good news that this bag does. The extra cost would probably be worth it for that reason alone.

That's the problem I'm having.  I bought the new Titleist Hybrid 14-way bag, since they advertise it as push cart friendly.  It's not.  It sits awkwardly on my Clicgear 3.5+.  I even bought the Clicgear accessory that lets the bag sit up a little more, and it actually makes it worse.  I'm considering the Vessel for just that reason.

Looking at pictures of that Titleist bag, I see that the base doesn't have a mechanism for the legs as part of it. I'd have hoped that alone would have made the fit more graceful with something like the Clicgear. Apparently not. Spending this kind of money on a Vessel bag is kind of crazy to me, but I may do it. The bag looks nice and it seems to do well with carts. I don't want multiple bags all that much. Hopefully, it'll last a long time.

I find the Clicgear accessory that's supposed to help with this fit problem to be kind of annoying. The cart is expensive enough. It's kind of a hustle to charge for all these extras, some of which should probably be stock features to begin with. I don't mind paying for a seat, external storage, etc. But having to buy an accessory just to make one's bag work with the cart? Seems kind of basic. But maybe not as some bags probably are better suited to rest against the cart's bag supports as is. Actually, the straps on the Clicgear 4 get enough purchase on my Nike bag that it stays more in place than it does with my electric cart, where it's a total bust in that regard. But it's still tenuous and very awkward.

The MNML V2 bag has caught my eye, too. Cheaper than the Vessel Player III and looks like it should do fine with a cart, has some nice features, though it may have less overall storage than a lot of carry bags do. In any case, whatever bag I may buy has to fit well on my carts. Otherwise, it gets returned.

What exactly is the hybrid bag not doing? Are you able or not able to engage the cuff near the top of the bag on the cart?  I have a hybrid 5 on the way, but i use a caddytrek cart. I’ve been looking at bags for a long time. The vessel 2.0 was too small and underwhelming, the c130s too big and also sold out nearly everywhere. The vessel 3.0 high on my list but not cost effective. I’m still looking at the Mizuno tour stand bag as well. But, hoping the Titleist hybrid 5 works and fills in my wants vs needs vs functionality.

The top cuff can be engaged, but the legs rest awkwardly inside the cuff.  They advertised a "push cart rest" feature with the bag, but I have no idea what's actually supposed to do.  The real problem is the bottom - the placement and angle of the rest at the bottom of the 3.5, combined with the leg system on the bag, just doesn't let the bag sit right.  I've tried the little accessory to let the bag sit up a little, but it doesn't help.

I just think that no stand bag it going to work acceptably with these pushcarts.

On the Vessel website's product page for the Player III, it looks like the hinges for the stand's legs are near the top of the upper cuff of the bag. That sits fine against the Clicgear 4's upper cart support?

Yes, especially considering that you can adjust the top strap point height on the Clicgear 4.  Between that, and the friction of the silicone straps against the vinyl (sorry, tour grade synthetic leather), neither of my Players 3 move an inch during a round.

Both of my Player 3 are the 6 way top, the layout is identical.

I will say that for me, this bag is now perfect in the DXR variety.  I had 3 complaints about the original Player 3 and this fixes all of them.

The first improvement they made IMO was improving the durability by adding in the X-PAC ripstop nylon.  The X-PAC ripstop on the sides looks very durable, and is located in the areas that need it most.

The biggest improvement IMO is the material that lines the straps and the dividers.  The OG Player 3 had a velour type feel that to me, just makes the hairs on the back of my neck stick up. I just don't like that feel.  The DXR replaced it with a more modern nylon mesh in both the dividers and the insides of the straps.  MUCH BETTER IMO.  You can see the material differences of the insides of the straps and dividers in below pictures.

Finally, it's a little lighter.  It's now very close to the same weight of a Ping Hoofer, and that's plenty light to carry.

Overall, I am wonderfully satisfied with this bag.  It took everything I loved about the OG Player 3 (which really is a great bag with pocket layout that is just about perfect) and improved on the few things that quietly irked me.

So is the main difference between the Player 3 and the Player 3 DXR the materials?

Yes, the addition of the DXR material is the only difference.  It’s the same bag design pocket-for-pocket.

Thanks! So "tour-grade synthetic leather" vs nylon. I imagine the nylon should in theory wear a bit differently.

Yes, I’ll definitely let you guys know. Unfortunately had no luck contacting the E-Mail I got directly from Vessel Golf. But I found @vesselgolfspain on Instagram which seems to be the same company/ golf shop. They told me that they ship from Spain and  expect to have the Player III back in stock end of September.. we’ll see.

I have this in black, walked 18 holes for the first time over the weekend and even though the bag itself isn't light, it wasn't "heavy" at all with all my stuff and I wasn't as exhausted as I thought I'd be after the hilly round. The weight-balancing thing on the strap is brilliant. And all the storage is really well thought-out, with more than I need.

Have you had a problem with the Player III and fading?

Bag came today.  It is really nice. My fully loaded ping hoofer lite was 24 to 25 pounds, this one fully loaded is 26 to 27 pounds. Strap systems seem similar.  Ping has more cushion with the built in rain cover.  The quality of the vessel is really nice and premium.  WIll report back after a round or tow.

Posted this in the other Vessel thread before I found this one...

Can anyone speak on the Player 3 6-way top and massive club tangle? I have a Jones Trouper 2 and the club tangle is just enough to be annoying. Finally talked myself into a Vessel Player 3 stand in the 6 way and initial impressions are not great. First, the way they layout the 6 way is 3|3 which is weird to me as I feel like my LAB golf putter takes up it's own spot, then i'm cramming 3 clubs into each of the next 5. Lets just say driver, 3W, 3H in one slot is not what i'm looking for. What is everyone doing for club layout?

Most frustrating thing though is it seems like the club tangle is crazy bad, like I can't even sit the irons in all the way bc there's no space for them. Pull 1 club, pull the whole slot. The internal strand mechanism certainly doesn't help.

Anyone have a 6-way Player 3 and can chime in on how they arrange their clubs, or any tips? Would the 14-way be better with this?

If I can't figure it out, looking like a return is imminent. Appreciate any insight!

I do it two ways, upper right is putter & wedges, then to left is pw,#9, mids in middle two, long & metals on bottom.  Or metals top left, run from short to mids to long clock wise. I have no great tangle issue, none more than any other stand bag.

No big deal for me at all. The bottom 2 slots are the only ones that are not full length dividers. I go 2 wedges on each side and they are probably to most used and never had any real issues. The top 2 rows both have full length and I go 3 irons on each side with the top having 3 wood hybrid and driver putter. Those are very easy to get in and out of.
