Different categories of irons. MMC are player cavity backs with multi material construction with copper underlay. 921 Forged are one piece forged players distance irons with chromoly in 4-7 irons. I play the 921 Forged and tested MP-20 MMC. MMC are a little more compact and less forgiving in my opinion. MMCs are also slightly weaker in lofts (e.g. 7-iron is 32 degrees vs. 31 degrees in the JPX) thus you’ll lose a little bit of distance.

Here’s a video that does a good comparison:

And this from Mizuno. A cool chart to check out that perhaps some have not seen.

I need to try more of a players iron. I’m a 4 hcp and would typically play the hot metal. My 7i is a 170 carry so it’s not like I’m a slow swinger. I wanted to try the HMB’s, I wonder if I should give the MMC’s a more serious look.

I’m a 9.9 and play the 919 Forged. I feel they are a perfect combo of playability, looks and forgiveness for me. As a 4 I think you can definitely consider the MMCs or HMBs. Just depends what you like and feel comfortable looking down at at address. Going all the way from the HMs, perhaps even looking at the 921 Forged? Def more compact w/less offset than what you’re currently playing, while still maintaining quite a bit of the forgiveness the HMs are giving you.

The MMC's are a great irons, easily the best multi material iron they have produced so far. Great feel and looks

The chart indicates that. The standard lofts are the same… So I don’t really get that one. I will say I have an HMB 3i with the same shaft as my irons (Tour Issue DG S400) and it’s really long. I essentially use it as a driving iron.
Anyone else have an idea why the Mizuno chart shows the HMB as being shorter than the MMC???

Lofts being the same, (assuming the same shafts) it must be the weighting in the heads.

I think they are just a touch hotter for whatever reason. They are smaller but a touch more length or at least the distance retention off misshits is so good it propells them above. I think everyone expect the hmb to be longer then mmc.

When I tested the MP 20s, the MMC spun quite a bit less then HMB. I also hit MMC 4-5 yards further than HMB despite the ball speed being almost identical

I swear if Mizuno screws the lefties again with another b.s. SEL set and gives us no real options I'm going to be pissed. If we only get the option for the 223 with no blades I'm also going to be pissed. I will not support a company that does this crap. Titleist, Taylormade, Callaway, and Ping all offer MB's and CB's to lefties. Very rarely do these companies do an iron release without a lefty option for their new lines. One time...... Just one time....... I want the option to build my own set of irons from Mizuno with no restrictions like right handed players get to. It would be so nice to be able to play a full set of blades if I want or mix and match some CB's in..... And not because I have to or there's no other option. I played the MP 20's and had to piece together a set MP-18 SC 3 &4 iron to get rid of the clunker 3 and 4 iron I didn't want. Huge pain in the rear and I hope Mizuno doesn't do that this year because I won't do it again. I will play the Titleist T100's instead and I advice other unhappy lefties to do the same.

Is it just me, or do they look a touch thicker than the 20's? Still amazing, clean muscle

So what exactly are we looking at here? Any more info?

From what I've read today.  May not be 100%

Mizuno Pro is a brand segment that is usually exclusive to Japan/Asia.  However their head types are almost always the same as the North America and Europe models.  So the Mizuno Pro 221 is very likely the Mp21 or they may shift the model name to the MP221.

So what does this mean...........decals and stamps may be tweaked prior to release in our markets but this is more than likely what we will see with the "MP21".

Looks like MP20 with some extra stamping. Much like the T22 wedge looks like T20 with different graphics and one new finish.
