After hitting a forged iron today without a copper underlay, I can safely say that as long as the MIzuno MP Line has that copper underlay, I won't be playing anything else.

I rarely buy anything brand new but that black fli-hi in a 4 would be an instant cop to kick out my MP20 HMB

I agree this series looks like a bit of a re-hash. The real change is from MMC to 223.

 

I wouldn't replace my MP20 blades with the 221s. The 225s are intriguing only because it looks like they're thinner from the top with less offset, but still largely the same as the HMB.

 

But the 223 line -- progressive cavity, addition of the gap wedge, has my attention. I don't know if I would switch if I already owned MMCs, but since I am thinking about going from blades to cavity backs, the 223s will be getting a serious workout. 

 

I tested the T100 and T100s. I could play them. They're nice looking in the bag and at address. But feel was iffy and they weren't any more forgiving (for me) than my MP20s.

It amazes me that OEMs are able to get such uniform compliance with these embargoes and that people within the organizations so rarely leak anything.

Now that you mention that. It is surprising, especially in todays world with camera phones and social media.

Heck you see leaks of iPhone & Android phones weeks before release.

I guess these guys like getting access to all the goodies weeks before anyone and don't plan to screw that up.

I plan to get my order in early when they go up for preorder in hopes of getting them on release day although it'll be winter and too cold to play LOL

I haven’t seen an mp14 in several years but these were little!  They cleaned up the transition from hosel to top line, and they look amazing!

I see that pre-orders are live on a couple of web sites. Not posting commercial links, but you can probably find them. Customization includes a veritable bevy of custom shaft and grip choices along with the usual lie and loft options, though I note that lie up to ±3° is available this year.

 

Waiting to see what the lofts on the 223s are so I can get good gapping into the wedges with a full set.

Based on prior releases any idea when these heads would get to fitters?  I may hold out on new sticks but don't want to go in to winter hiatus and have to get fit in Jan.

They have trimmed down the HMB. Cleanup the lines and improved the feel. I like the idea of more forgiving 4-7 and blade 8-pw. Maybe throw the 223 in at the 6-7 iron spot for a triple combo..

Seriously. I was about to pull the trigger on some ZX-5s but am going to wait now. I doubt they'll be as forgiving but damn they look good.

You don't know the lofts of these irons do you? Will it require bending to blend?

I was originally thinking of going 5-PW in 221 and 4 Fli hi if they make a 4 or some hybrid but maybe I can do 4-6 in 223/225 and 7-PW in 221
