Shoes with Best Combo of Walkability and Grip?

Recommended Posts

I use the ground a lot in my swing and play in all types of turf conditions in New Jersey during the year, so I need a shoe with great grip (currently partial to the Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour) - but I also enjoy walking 18+ holes and don’t find most of the “grippy” shoes very comfortable. Any recommendations that find the happy medium?

Footjoy Hyperflex BOA. Best all around shoe I’ve ever had. Extremely comfortable with excellent grip.

Mine just got here today and took them to the range this afternoon. They’re incredibly comfortable and plenty of traction with real spikes in them. I walk 99% of my rounds, and live in a similar area (just north of Philadelphia). Downside is there’s no white pair out right now 😂

I recently started wearing Columbia trail shoes vice golf shoes, and have found them to be excellent.  Paid $60 for a completely water-proof style (and it works), which was way cheaper than what I could find in a waterproof golf shoe.  I walk almost exclusively, and they are quite comfortable - and I can also use them for other things beside golf.

I switched recently to the North Face Vectiv line, specifically the Escape (its a Trail runner).  It's not waterproof but they do have a couple that are.

Surprisingly the G/Fore Gallivanter are very comfortable to walk in.  I assumed I would only use them when I was riding, but have been using them for all of my rounds recently.  Traction is great and insole is comfortable.  I now have multiple pairs of Nike and Adidas athletic styles collecting dust in the corner.

Have gotten the Infinity Tour reco before. When you reference shoe shape, are they a bit narrow?

I disagree with this recommendation unless you can guarantee you're playing on 100% dry ground. The ZIT has 3 spikes. 2 on the ball of your foot and 1 big on in the heel. The rest of the shoe is hard plastic. They tried to compensate this by adding some grooves between the ball of the feet and the toe, but they don't do anything IMO. If you get on your toes at all during your swing, which I do because I'm not a big guy and need to lift off to create speed, you will slip in this shoe a lot. I really want to like this shoe because they are very comfortable to walk in once you break in the heel. I've had to relegate my pair to practice shoes though. But yes, they fit narrow like most other Nike's.

I ordered a pair of ADG3's. I'm hoping these will become my main shoe.

I walk a majority of my rounds and the G270's are great. Perfect grip for any conditions and they are really comfortable.

I have found a pretty happy medium of very great walkability, grip and style in the Footjoy Traditions model. To Tour Premier looks a bit better from the side but this is way more comfortable and about 100 eur less.

im in NY and i can tell you SPIKELESS only work for me if I am on a pristine course like a TRUMP course or Bethpage.......i bought the Adidas ZG21's and they are the best golf shoe ive ever worn....light, stable and plenty of grip.

Boa or non

I have been trying to find shoes that will fit my wide feet.. I stumbled upon these the other day and my feet actually fit.. the only downside is the reg were to narrow and I would have to go with the boa or special order the wide and hope they fit.. my concern is how well the boa lasts..

I walk 60 plus rounds a year and my current ecco  really start to bother my feet half way through  as they rub a little on my toe...

Ecco S-Three are unbelievably comfortable to walk in.

Air Jordan golf shoes are very comfortable, with great support.

Adidas CodeChaos.

Asics Gel are great.

What I'm saying is, I have way too many golf shoes.

Eccos don't work for me. The back of the heel is very firm. I have somewhat protruding bones in the back of my heels and the harder surface causes blisters.

Never tried Jordans - this aint basketball. :classic_laugh:

But you ain't lyin' about Asics.

Sketchers were previously the most comfortable for me but about 4 months ago I got the Adidas Code Chaos. They were terrific.

6 weeks ago I tried on the Asics Gel. Even better. Most comfortable golf shoe ever. 👍
