Anyone ever buy a new set of irons without seeing them in person?

I buy lots of used clubs that way.  Pics and a trusted seller, no prob.  If it's someone I've dealt with in the past and trust them, I will buy without even pics.

I picked up a set of mp55s off eBay the year they came out.  I’d never seen a set in person as they were a JDM offering only.  Probably my favorite set of irons.

I hadn't seen any of the last 4 sets I have bought in the last 3 months and the set I am buying in May haven't been made yet. So there aren't even pictures, but I still bought them.

 

As a lefty I don't have the luxury of being able to walk into Dicks and swing clubs. Dicks had 1 fairway wood and 4 hybrids in lefty last time I was in there.

 

I do research, read reviews, then take a leap.

Yes.  Many times.  One set I bought after only seeing photos are my current gamers: 2013 ONOFF forged irons (purchased new in 2015).

Of course. I bought the heads from one seller who drop shipped them to a builder who then sent them to me.

Yes - I bought my old Titleist 755 irons without having hit or even seem them before. I used them for about 14 years and they took my handicap from 18 to 6 and back to 11 again. I had the original S300 shafts swapped for KBS Tours about halfway through my use of them. They are great irons.

Too many times. Most recently I bought HB Turbos last year because I was hitting irons poorly. I bought an Autoflex shaft this season, without ever trying it (still not sure if I like it). I’ve been doing lessons to get the swing more consistent, then I’ll probably get properly fitted and sell my current bag and stop buying blindly.

Yes.  Z785’s from 2nd swing, based on the reviews from everyone here.  Traded a bunch of old crap in and used that credit for a “9.0” shape 4-PW set that showed up still in plastic, brand new.  The reviews here are legit!

I have traded a few before ups delivered them.  Yes.  Once bought and sold the same putter- thrice.  On purpose.

With my Honma TW-X irons, kinda yes. I did not get a chance to see them LH or hit them with the Modus 105 shafts, but I saw what the heads looked like right handed. I got an amazing deal and couldn't say no even though I didn't hit them. I'm glad I did because they are the best irons I've played so far, absolutely amazing.

I bought the ZX7's blind, although I cheated a little bit and asked my coach what shafts/specs would fit for me.

Set of mint Srixon Z565’s 4-P with KBS C-taper 120S shaft +1.0 inch off of the ‘Bay.  Never even hit a club with that shaft.  A crapshoot there.

Yup my m2 iron set. Also, my tsi2 3 wood and tsi2 hybrid. Still waiting for delivery on hybrid and I’ve still never seen one in person. Either way ill pretend to love it.

I don't remember the last set of irons I actually saw in-person before I bought them, but as long as they say "Ping" I'm pretty sure they'll be fine.

I do it all the time.  But I always do my research first and check to see if there's a positive, long term consensus about them.  9 times out of 10, the consensus is true.

Most of my favorites have been blind buys actually. Titleist 681T, Miura baby blades and tour wedges, P7TW, and most recently ZX7.
