Vintage bag on modern push cart

Recommended Posts

I have several vintage bags and those with the rear 'hump' should be turned sideways for use on a push cart.

most of them have the ball and tee pockets on the lower front so it simply becomes the lower right or left side depending on how you orient the bag.

there was a pic on one of the clothing threads showing an ad from the early 90's.

all the bigger bags on the metal Bag Boy carts were placed at 90 degree angles.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help. Man those vintage carts are cool. I never even thought about that. I’m going to look into it now.

And when you find them they are fairly cheap. Especially in the thrifts. Mainstream players want the new modern push carts. I will let you in on another secret The Bag Boy carts the handle adjusts to several positions and IMHO they push as well as they pull.

Boy oh boy, those old school Bag Boy aluminum carts are sure in demand all of a sudden.  I did an eBay search and the Play Days are typically going for $100-$125! 🤑

It seems that anything to do with golf since the start of the pandemic has doubled in price!  I guess we shouldn't complain about the green fees then?

the last two wheeler I used was one of these. .

still hanging on my garage wall for nostalgia.

Mine is a "Master" and I will sell at the drop of a hat for $125 or even $100 considering I got it off the scrap pile at work and because it was aluminum I did pay a little more than my club purchases. I think I gave $2

I use a vintage Bag Boy with the cast alloy wheels--- I will clue you guys in on this-- If the plastic tie down straps are missing or torn up go to the thrift store and buy thin ladies belts they are cheap and go through ths slits on the cart good. Have had some on mine for years now. My Bag Boy is basically like the ones you posted just the wheels are the alloy with the knock off spinners. Mine also has the scorecard holder that not only holds the card but 6 tees, 4 balls and even a pack of smokes!!!! LOL a few years back I did a display for a local tournament with my Cf 4000s and persimmon woods. Even used an empty Camel box pack with rocks in it for the display--- Got some of the anti smoking crowd stirred up.

I also ordered velco straps off ebay.  They came in a pack of 12 for about $12.  I like them better than the belts because you don't have to worry about the holes for sizes.  You just synch them down they are black and don't detract from the aesthetic of the bag or cart.  FYI, I got the cart in the picture last night.  OMG, it is literally MINT.  I've had bag boys where the wheels get a little loose and wobbly but this thing rolls like a new cart. It's just pristine.

Due to Covid we revamped our church services-- We have one service outside where one can sit in their car and the second is indoors. Our Analog boxes on the sound we have to move back and forth. We got some of that velcro straps you described to keep out Analog banks intact when switching and it works well.

My bag Boy when I got it was in pristine shape but me being the mechanic I am I pulled the wheels apart and greased the bushings and tightened them up plus drilled a hole and inserted a drift pin to lock them down tight

That's a good idea.  I'm going to let my friend know to do that.  Like I said, his is loose.   I am a total tinkerer and pulled the entire stand apart, regreased, thought maybe I could get the wheels tighter.  In looking at the NOS one I bought it looks like they used a rubber bushing on the inside of the wheels and my guess is that wears over time.

Mine had brass bushings but I guess some could have plastic or teflon bushings. If those bushings are bad take a piece of real leather and wrap it around the axle good and lube it down with motor oil. It will tighten up and wear well. I have taken an leather belt and cut off a piece and use it for a rod bearing in a race car. In that case the crank was already ruined and we needed to at least start the race to get points. LOL that thing ran the whole 30 laps. I learned that trick from my Grand Daddy who was a farmer and farmed in the depression and WW2

I remember guys doing that when when were teenagers.

they needed to create a small gasket for a thermostat or similar fitting.

there was always pieces of scrap leather from a jacket or car seat covers for just those needs.

+1 @BIG STU
