Can Will Peoples chime in and let us know if anyway to hotmelt the sound away on the Max or are we left with the LST which I also really like as well.

Will Peoples I am not , but I had my Ping G425 Max Driver hot melted (with 3 grams) and it's made a significant difference.

It’s crazy how bad it sounds. I have 3 grams of hot melt and that wasn’t enough. I think you’d need 6 grams to change the sound for the better.

Listening to the sound of the G425 for the tour players on tv sounds nothing like what it does in real life. It’s like they’re hitting a different driver.

Just a quick update. The replacement arrived and it sounds much better. Mine also has 3 grams of hot melt and a 20 gram weight. Weighed the head and it comes in at 203 grams + 3 grams for the adapter so at 206 grams on the button. D3 swing weight as requested. Ping WRX nailed my specs.

This driver just launch’s the ball high and straight and is a fairway finder. You have to put a terrible swing on it to miss.

For me, I had to put the driver in the flat setting to deliver the club the same as my G410 LST.

So I hit the G425 Max and compared it to my G410 LST (didn’t want to bother with G425 LST, because I read the 425 Max had similar spin numbers to the 410LST but with more forgiveness). The verdict for me was that the numbers were almost exactly the same- ball speed, dispersion, launch angle, and swing speed. The only difference was that the 410 LST sounded better and the weight felt better- that of course is a very personal thing. But it was interesting to see that the numbers were exactly the same for me.

Hit the 425 again and the results were different. Much more forgiving- had to put a really bad swing on it to feel it twist. I hit it with Aldila Rogue White and an Evenflow Black and it felt fantastic. I was able to trade in the 410LST (Tour shaft) and a 410 hybrid (that I hit nothing but hooks with) plus $100 for a preowned 425 Max with the Rogue White 130 shaft. Feel pretty good about the deal.

Got mine in from Will Peoples about a week ago.  G425 Max, 10.5, 44.75 ", Ventus blue shaft in 60S, hotmelted.  Only played 2 rounds and some range time.  Very good on left to right dispersion.  I've hit some that were going offline and when I got to the ball it was closer to fairway than I thought.

However, I'm coming from a Sim Max with the same specs.  One area I'm concerned about is the Ping doesn't seem to have the vertical forgiveness of the Sim Max. I've hit some that seem to really shoot way up and fall way short of what I think it should have been.

So...I have a battle going on between these 2 drivers.  I really like the look of the Max and it sounds good enough, not as good as the TM though.   The TM feels a little more solid too.  TM is pretty dang good on LR dispersion too, just not quite as good as the Max.

Anyone look into or try the TPW 1K yet in a 425 Max?

I got the Tensei 1K 50g in X flex about 2 weeks ago from a fellow WRX'r. I previously had the Tensei AV Raw Orange 65S. Both shafts are exactly the same length (44.75"). I'm getting more distance and tighter dispersion from the 1K. I'm genuinely surprised at how much difference this has made. I assume that I'm picking up a few mph due to the lighter shaft, but the X flex is keeping it straight. Ball flight has very little curve to it. Plays to a D4 swingweight, which is perfect for me. Have mine set up in the flat and -1 setting.

I got the Aldila Rogu White 130 in mine when I got my 425 Max pre-owned. I had an EvenFlow Black 65g and haven’t had a chance to hit either on a course- just the range. Everything seemed pretty similar in terms of ball flight and dispersion- the Evenflow just felt a tad better. Looking forward to seeing how they play n the course- if that’s similar too, I may sell one.
side note: I’ve always been someone who struggled with slices but I could also hook the ball. I tried the weight in the fade setting and it ended my occasional hook and I wasn’t slicing the ball- I wonder if that will continue. I liked how the head felt heavier in the fade setting. Who knows with this crazy game?

Update: The Aldila Rogue White is beating the Evenflow Black after multiple range sessions and 3 rounds. On the course, I’ve yet to hit a big miss with the Rogue. The trajectory is perfect- lots of carry with no ballooning. I have to say the G425 Max is much better for me than the 410LST.

Bought a 425 max today at PGA Superstore. Rogue 70s. Flirted with the Tensei which gave me my longest balls, but the Rogue was consistent flight and didn’t give up that much yardage.
First driver I’ve ever paid retail for. It was that good. I’m in love. Set it to 8* on the flat setting, weight in the middle and I can absolutely let it fly. Nice and straight or a slight draw. Best ball speeds I’ve had on a GC4 in a long time. Feels amazing and I actually like the sound.

Went straight to the range after hitting it at PGASS and saw the exact same thing. It doesn’t correct a horrible swing, but mishits with this thing are better than anything I’ve ever seen.  Loss of some yardage, but playable and still out there.
Played the 400 Max previously and I would say this is more neutral and maybe even a little draw bias, but the adjustability in the sleeve and with the weights knocks this thing out of the park.

Some have said they can’t tell when they miss the middle with it. I would disagree. I can hear and feel the difference.

Did I say I was in love???

Agree more draw bias

which is why it is a bust for me

back to the 410  sold the 425

hope Ping fixes that on next driver

400 and 410 were both neutral

I think most agreed the 400 max was a little fade biased. That was my experience and I feel like I watched a TXG video and read an MGS report that stated the same. Could be wrong. Regardless, the 425 is fantastic.

The draw bias on the G425 is good to know about. I had to set the weight to fade as my swing already is biased for a draw.

Now all my drives are boringly straight...and long.

Do not like the Alta cb regular shaft on the G425 max. Too soft for my liking and  my miss is left / right can’t find a fairway. Ordered a Project X 65 gram 5.5 Even Flow Blue shaft for a test.

Oddly for me, it's the opposite. My miss is an over draw/hook and unless I hit it off the extreme toe, my flight has been in the range of 5-10 yd draw to straight. If I push it, it's a straight push to slight cut. I've had one shot that was extreme heel and low. I'm talking only half a ball mark because the other half missed the club face completely and the result was about a 15 yard heel cut started left edge of the fairway and ended up in the middle. The fairway doglegs softly right and I thought I was headed into the pond through the dogleg.

Max 9* setup neutral with both Tensei Orange 65x and Ventus Velo 7X

I've played both and I hit my G410 LST 10.5 set to 9.5 further than the G425 Max.  The Max is very forgiving but it is also more left side or draw biased vs the LST.  Accuracy also is very close between the two.  Ping did such a good job on the G410 PLUS and LST.

How much spin difference did you find from the 425 MAX to the 425 LST?  And did you go up in loft on the LST?

I played the 400 MAX in 9* move up to 9.75 and the 400 LST in straight 10.5*.  Wondering how the 425's are playing.

Thank you

Most Tour guys loft up then turn down - opening of face

I'd say 10.5 LST

When I got fit, there was 500-600 rpm diff between the 425 max and LST, the LST being lower, of course, and it was dead straight to slight fade, making dispersion better for me.

I’ve been playing my G425 Max with the Evenflow Black 65 gram lately and WOW!
I have never hit driver better- crazy distance and forgiveness. Arccoss confirms it. I used to average 230 with my 410LST and now it’s 250- with a 260 smart distance. Also hit my first 300 yard drive without the assistance of a hill.
The G425 Max is a game changer for me.

Just ditched my Tsi3 for a G425 Max.  Maybe the Tsi3 is longer on my best hits but the 425 max is almost always in play and my average shot is longer.  It is so much more forgiving.  Currently playing the new Ping with the MSI 130 TX 70 shaft (which is working great), but will be testing out some of the shafts I have been playing on the Tsi3 when the Ping adapters and headweights show up.
