Sim2 Hotmelt

Just picked up a Sim2 and play my driver shorter than standard. Looking to add roughly 8g of hotmelt to bring this club back to SW (haven't been able to find any oem or aftermarket weights for the Sim2 yet). My thought it to add 4g through the rear weight port and 4g through the sole weight port. My concern is with the hotmelt contacting the new all carbon fiber sole and damaging the sole of the club. Does anyone have experience with hotmelting the new Sim2 head (retail version) and if so, what precautions did you take to make sure that the carbon fiber sole remained in tact?

People have been putting hotmelt on carbon crowns for years now as some say it give better acoustics in that location. It won't be an issue putting it anywhere on the Sim2.

I'm planning on cutting my Sim2 down to either 44.75 or 44.5 so I'm here with ya. Keep us in the loop as to how your adjustments go!

If you have the sim 2, I believe it comes with a 16 gram weight. You could swap a sim 2 max weight, which I believe is 24 grams. Doing that might mean it spins a bit more though since the weight is in the back? I'm pretty sure you can buy the weights on eBay right now. Only the stock 16 and 24 gram though. I expect we'll get a wider range and heavier weights before too long hopefully 

 

I'm the same way, I cut my shafts. Usually down so they play 43.5 to 44 inches. I might end up doing hot melt, but I'll probably experiment with lead tape or 24 gram weight in my SIM2 for now.

Billy Bob’s has weights for sale. Front are in stock but rear are out of stock. 24g rear are on eBay. I have one on the way.

There are plenty of aftermarket weights which would be easier to tinker with rather than dropping in 8 grams of melt. 

 

Sole Neutral Rear is an ideal place. Go through the slot in head where the shaft is

mine is coming at 44.5 and I'm now nervous about the swing weight

My SIM 2 has Hotmelt in it and has had no issues at all.

Same here SIM2MAX with 9grams of HM on the carbon and toe area...no issues whatsoever and the sound has never been better or more solid. Love it

 

Also love the Billy Bob weight idea.  this would allow further fine tuning if you require and back to stock if you wanted to sell.

Cut mine down ti 45 EOG then bought a heavier "round" weight for the head from Billybobsonline. the stock weight was 4g's and I got the 12g replacement. Came with the torx bit to remove/replace for around $33 (shipping was $14 though - yuck).

 

Haven't been able to swing weight the changed setup yet though - but at least you have that as a non permanent option.

Did you find that the sound improved after you added hot melt? More like the original SIM?

Definitely more muted than without. I didn't have many reps with the Original SIM as I was coming from an M3 Driver. But I love my SIM2 and it's as close to point and shoot with a driver that I have ever had and play mine at 45" D5 swing weight.

You don't need to overtime the adding of hot melt. It's perfectly fine to add to the head. As an example check out Trotties videos of him building for DJ
