How is removing your shirt (or pants) on a pro tour OK?

I think its safe to say the tour has no issue with it. It has occurred occasionally over several decades and I don't recall any comment at all about it. Not an issue other than for snowflakes.

Because there is very clearly a split on this site between people who are "progressive" and okay with golf evolving in some manner (shorts, music on the course, etc..) and those who aren't. Both groups also very clearly like to have their voices heard. A topic like this, which is controversial, I guess, was going to bring that out.

Non-sensible pro (probably Patrick Reed's wife) "why can't pros take their shirt off on every shot then..."

 

In reality, I would like to see them actually get rid of the "im not touching my body" belly putters first

I wouldn't say it's gone sideways. I don't see any personal attacks in here. People differ as to what they consider appropriate but I think this thread lacked the vitriol that has sunk many a Tiger Woods or blade vs. GI thread.

I think that is a silly way to look at it. Taking items off to hit out of water occurs .0001% or LESS of the time PGA players are playing, because of those extremely rare occurrences we should do away with a dress code all together?

 

If once per round/per player this occurred you might have an argument, but this occurs once per career for 1% or less of players.

It's very hypocritical that the tour who won't let players wear shorts because there is some weird old man hatred of mens calves/ have to "protect the image", but stripping down to your underwear is ok? It's just illogical and incongruent. 

The Tour used to allow shorts, until I believe Tommy Bolt wore a pair that were so short his balls were basically hanging out. That's what put an end to it.
