The Trilby Tour

I’ve just been reading about the Trilby Tour, here in the U.K. having gone into liquidation,

having taken nearly £300 in entry fees from each of the hundreds of entrants over a year ago. I really feel bad for those people who only found out about it all when they received an email from the liquidators. 
I hope they find where the money went, sooner rather than later. 
 

It’s such a shame that paying by credit card so that you get some kind of protection is the only way to not get screwed over like this. It’s certainly made me think about how I will pay for the 3/4 open competitions i intend on entering in 2021.

My club was down as one of the hosting clubs for The Trilby Tour this year. Several of our members entered and are now in that same position you mentioned about being out of pocket. 

 

Our club also paid some funds (unknown amount) to host the event so they also are out of pocket.

Interesting, I didn’t know that the clubs had paid fees too.

hopefully there’ll be some proper investigation as to what has happened to all the money, but I doubt there will be.

I haven't had all the details since the tour shut down during Covid but I know our course had a deal to host for 3 years. If/When I get more info I'll post it up here for those curious.
