What driver length are you playing?

No doubt, there is a tipping point where gains are diminished. I play my irons at 1/2 over, but my driver at 44.25-44.50. Once I go over 45 inches, my dispersion suffers.

This is such a fascinating range of answers. For me, I definitely feel more comfortable with "standard" length clubs, and my 3W is 43" which is a money club for me (though my 5W is 42").

 

I tried at a fitting a shorter 43.5-44" shaft and lost several MPH in swing speed and my strikes didn't improve that much to make up for it. 

 

Rory is 45.5, DJ is 45.75, but Tommy is 44.75. JT is 44 7/8, but the Cam Champ is 44.25.

 

So clearly no "correct" length. I think I may try out my clubs and have it built at 45.5 since its such a counterbalanced shaft I'm putting in, I can increase the head weight and keep the SW the same and that, plus a touch more length, PLUS lessons, can probably get me a pretty decent driver this season.

I play mine at either 44 1/4” or 46”. I notice a little bit more dispersion with the longer shaft, but nothing to keep me away from it. Just depends on the course I’m playing.

When it comes to something small like 1/8-1/4" i dont think there's any difference. But players who struggle with 'retail length' (45.75") should definitely try 1/2" increments down at 45" and 44.5" to see if it helps them.

 

IMO 44.75", 44 7/8" and 45" are all the same thing depending on what grip you play and how you grip the club. Some grips have ~1/4 or 1/8 butt-caps.

It used to 44.5" to minimize dispersion. It is currently 45.5" since installing the Autoflex shaft. And my dispersion became even tighter.

im 5’9 with a wrist to floor of 34”. I like the accuracy of a shorter driver. I’ll choke up too every now and then
