How many brands are in your bag?

BallerNate

Recommended Posts

So here’s the grand totals. Unfortunately I don’t have an assistant yet to help me out, and you guys are lucky I majored in Economics to crunch these numbers! 😉

1 Brand: 18 (5.7%)

2 Brands: 31 (9.7%)

3 Brands: 75 (23.6%)

4 Brands: 78 (24.5%)

5 Brands: 65 (20.4%)

6 Brands: 36 (11.3%)

7 Brands: 10 (3.1%)

8 Brands: 5 (1.6%)

There were a total of 318 responses.

Additional notes:

-Of the 6 new “1 Brand Bags”, 5/6 were All-Titleist

-68.5% of WRX’rs fall into the category of 3-5 Brands in their bag

For the new responders that were asking, we didn’t count balls or bags since that wasn’t part of the OG question, and Srixon/Cleveland, Callaway/Odyssey, Titleist/Vokey/Cameron, were all counted as 1 Brand each.

I've just realised I'm pretty much at 'peak' brand right now with eight:

Ping Driver

Taylormade 4w and 7w

Romaro hybrid

Mizuno driving iron

Wilson irons

I also play a Snell ball and use a Honma bag...

@BallerNate

Hope this doesn't mess up you stats, but I'm actually at 9 now:

Taylormade 4w

A-Grind 20* hybrid

Romaro 23* hybrid

Mizuno driving iron

Srixon irons

It has been nothing short of amazing for me. I used the standard Mavrik in 2020 and liked it but struggled with a hook at times. The LS sounded like a good fit but I thought it was just another hyped up driver that would not be much different. WRONG!! The hook miss has almost disappeared and when hit in the center of the face it is noticeably longer as well. The sound and feel is not as good as the Mavrik but it has grown on me.

I think this might be the least amount of brands I've ever had in the bag. TM clubs are just too good right now. Only upgrades I am considering is the M2 to a SIM and I am actually legitimately looking at a GAPR Mid to replace the cobra utility.  Currently bagging the P770s. But I do go rotate between Srixon z545 black, Callaway Tour X-Prototypes, Miura Baby blades, and a few others.

Down to 4.

TM driver, fairway, hybrid

BGD irons (was KZG)

Lazrus wedges (soon to be Maltby)

Mizuno putter (soon to be Nike)

BGD only makes one set of lefty irons, so that's all I can get there

Lazrus only makes wedges and hybrids in lefty

<edit> I have way too many brands of ball in my bag.

It only got to nine because I am giving my TM V-steel a break. Swapped it out with a 20.5* hybrid I found that I liked the look of. Plus, I put a Mac Muirfield putter back in the bag over my Odyssey #9, but I'm not sure how long that will stay in

If the V-steel and Odyssey had stayed, it'd be 7 brands.

My persimmon bag is all-Mizuno at the moment, though...😁

Hey bud 👊🏻 Macgregor PCB tours, happened to luck into a forgotten new old stock set (3-pw) with s300 and 1/4” over length from an estate sale, set lofts and lies to my needs, regripped and straight into the bag👍🏻

My Mizuno bag is also has a mix of woods, but they all work!

I could also put together a Mac bag, but I don't really have a Mac driver I get on with, so I'd probably go with the '54 M85 2w. Also, I don't have a Mac SW that I really like, though the one with my Muifields just about does the job.

Funny really; I don't care about matching brands with my modern bag, but I quite like putting together matching bags occasionally with the old stuff.

The most surprising thing to me of this entire survey, is that 18 people have just 1 brand throughout their bag. That's some OCD weirdness right there.

🤣🤣 Hahaha!! I wouldn’t have said “OCD weirdness”, but it’s definitely a lot of loyalty  being shown to a company that’s not paying them or giving them free equipment (as far as I know).

No OEM is paying me or giving discounts, and I don’t like any company’s products or brand image enough to only buy 1 company’s equipment, but to each their own.

I actually thought there would be more than 18 “One-brand bags” though, and thought there would be more All-TaylorMade bags from what I see in my area from average golfers.

The only person I know with an all one brand bag has nothing but Callaways in his bag. However, from seeing some WiTB on here, I wasn't too surprised to see a good number of all Titleist bags.

Good point about the all Taylormade bags; at the course, I've seen quite a few bags filled with TM woods and irons, but often rounded out with Vokey wedges and a Scotty or Odyssey putter. Usually younger players with bags like this.

Yeah, true…lots of TM Woods and irons combined with different wedges and putters.

Here in my area though (Ontario, Canada), there’s also a ton of All-TaylorMade bags with MG2 wedges and Spider putters. There are also a lot of TM bags with older irons and wedges also from golfers young and old.

Not sure why TM is so big here in Canada, but it’s probably the Tiger/DJ/Rory factor, and similar reasoning to why the Cowboys are also huge in Canada…because that’s what we see on TV.

On the vintage bag they are 3 different years and models but still be all Macgregor. Just happen to be the 3 woods out of all I own that I hit best. Back in the day it would have either been a Power Bilt or Toney Penna driver

The last round was 4.  Plus room in the bag for a couple more (although don't need more than 12).  Tomorrow may be different.  Change them up based on the feels and which way the wind blows.

Think I once spotted one brand bag guy out in the wild.  But a rare creature where I slog about playing at golf.

Now that's a nice collection of fairway woods👍

I've actually dropped my V-steel 7w. Just not doing well with fairway woods right now, though once I get my mojo back with them, the V-steel 7w will return. The hybrid I replaced it with doesn't go as far, but the misses are better than with the 7w.
