Better health. Have been battling knee and ankle issues the past three seasons that's greatly impacted my swing and game. At this point (knock wood) the heath is looking better and that's the "surpris

I have two:   1) A 9-wood (Ping G425 cranked down to 22.0 degrees). This will rotate with my 4 iron depending on course and conditions. Goes same distance as 4i but stops on a dime.

The Sonartec hybrid listed below.  I hit 4/4 greens with it on Tuesday.  It cost me a princely $15.

My biggest surprise addition is a new Bridgestone JGR driver with a Recoil F4 shaft.  The club has a slight draw bias but it is 45.5” shaft and a lively feel.  The draw bias can be easily eliminated with a slight grip adjustment or opening the face a degree or two.  The Recoil shaft is fun to hit but I may try a shaft I am more familiar with that is 45” and slightly heavier.

A side benefit is that my previous driver (Mizuno ST190) has started to perform at a much improved level.

To be honest, the driver. I was skeptical. I haven't really liked a Titleist driver in a long, long time and this one had a lot of hype to live up to. It's the real deal for me though. I have the most confidence I've ever had over any driver in my bag that I can remember. On days that I used to struggle it was because of dispersion with the driver, and getting into bad spots. That hasn't been an issue so far with this one. It's cemented itself firmly in the bag for the season.

Cleveland wedges instead of vokeys. The zipcore are awesome. I’d have a full set if my 50 wasn’t stamped with my family’s names.

Two for me - the CBX2 wedges and the Original One.
The Cleveland’s spin a ton, feel awesome, and offer some nice, additional forgiveness.

I’ve always ran hot & cold with the big dog.  The OO has narrowed down those misses big time with little (to no) loss  in distance.

After recognizing that I was never getting over my hatred of hybrids, I put the Callaway Epic Max 11-wood in the bag.

Did not see that coming.

Nothing. For the first time ever, my bag is exactly as it was at the end of last year. Strange but everything  works so leaving it...for now.

Finished out my bag in September when the 7W arrived from Callaway PreOwned. I had gotten the 4W and 4H in early summer.

The Rogue pair really straightened up my reach game.

We'll see how long the bag "behaves itself" this season.

What's In The Bag (Summary as of October 2020)

Driver:  Tour Edge EXS 10.5°, weights neutral   ||  FWs:  Calla Rogue 4W + 7W

Hybrid:  Calla Big Bertha OS 4H at 22°  ||  Irons:  Tour Edge CB Pro Tungsten 4i-9i

Wedges*:  Calla MD3: 48°, 54°... MD4: 58° ||  Putter: Ping Sigma G Tyne (face-balanced)

Ball: Calla SuperHot (Orange preferred)  ||  Bag: Sun Mountain Three 5 stand bag

For details see:  Pending (need protocol to embed file list).

     * MD4 54°/10 S-Grind being tested as possible SW to replace MD3 54°/12 W-Grind.

A few things.  2 of which are in the bag for now and the 3rd item I’m not sure about yet but I keep going back to it.

Wilson Staff CB irons are in the bag.  I randomly tried them out at a golf shop while traveling out of town for work.  I was so impressed with the production from my misses it just made too much sense.  Plus they look amazing!

Ping g425 5 wood with stock Alta stiff shaft.  Who knew??  On paper the shaft should be too soft, but it just works.  So easy to launch.

3rd item not in the bag yet, but I keep going  back to when I’m at my local shop is the Odyssey 2 ball 10s with the line.  The alignment is stupid easy.  Far cry from my flow neck custom blade.

SIM 2 driver. Walked in a golf shop to compare numbers with my m6. AMAZING. This is one of the best drivers I have ever touched and it looks beautiful as well, although I consistently find myself attracted to the most futuristic looking products.

A hybrid for me. I’ve never been able to get along with them, but I finally found a set up I like and I’m loving it. Always been super old school with my club selections, but I’m digging this hybrid thing. Considering even replacing my 4 iron (same loft as most people’s 5 iron) with one.

A 3 iron as my new fairway finder. I bounce between 5-8 hc and get really left off the tee when things are bad. Didn’t expect that an i500 3 iron would necessarily be the answer but it had the MMT 125tx that I was dying to try so I bought it. It doesn’t go left - and while it’s obviously stout it doesn’t feel like rebar. Huge win for me, and very surprising.

A Taylormade club, but of all TM clubs, a GAPR Lo. Such a great driving iron.

Also this stupid thing. It's not IN my bag, but i keep it in the garage and its actually good at cleaning club faces. I got it as a joke:

dumped the 3 wood for a 5 wood.  I have never used a 5 wood but needed something more versatile and I hit these lower spinning 5 woods almost as far as my old 3 wood but with more versatility.

OG Taylormade Rescue Mid 19* went back in the bag after an experiment with an Epic Flash 3h which proved to be an oddly dead feeling, sounding and performing club.

I've been playing a Rescue Dual 19* for nearly 13 years now, and nothing can seem to knock it out of the bag.  I quit trying...that thing is probably never getting replaced.

This is the season I am starting to play like the 42y/o I am, rather than the much better 24y/o player I was.

One would be the SM8 58* S grind.   Not foxy like the M or the D, but it just gets in done for me from a variety of spots and conditions.

Second is parking the Ventus Black 6X for the more friendly Diamana W 60X.   The Ventus is too much for me.

Gimme some Advil and LFG!

Two items:

1. Mizuno ST-Z, 9.5 Driver....it replaced my TS3 since the ST-Z has slightly more ball speed

2. The golf bag itself....I got a Titleist Players 4 StaDry Stand Bag in January....best bag I have ever owned. It is simplistic and functional in several ways

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
