I replaced my entire bag this year. Mostly just upgrading - have been playing Titleist D/FWs for years. And Mizuno irons for a couple decades (though I must say, I'm liking my new MMCs almost as much as I liked the MP-32s I played in the 'aughts). And Scotty putters for a couple decades. Even got a new cart bag and stand bag.

But I made two alterations that were life changing. The first, the Sun Mountain Clubglider Journey Travel Bag (https://shop.sunmountain.com/clubglider-journey-detail). A travel bag with wheels. Anyone that has lugged clubs through airports gets why this is genius.

But the biggest - I just got two Miura wedges. First time I've owned Miuras. Could wax poetic for several paragraphs about how perfect they are in every respect, but it all can be summed up thusly: They are worth the price.

Titleist TSR3 10.5* ~ Ventus TR Blue 58g

Titleist TSR2 15* ~ Tensei CK Pro Blue 60g

Titleist TSR2 18* ~ Tensei CK Pro Blue 60g

Titleist TSR2 21* (H) ~ Tensei AV Raw Blue 65g

Mizuno JPX 923 Forged, 4-6 ~ Aerotech SteelFiber i95

Mizuno Pro 245, 7-PW ~ Nippon NS Pro 950GH Neo

Miura Milled Tour Wedge QPQ 52* ~ KBS HI REV 2.0 SST

Miura Milled Tour Wedge High Bounce QPQ 58*HB-12 ~ KBS HI REV 2.0 SST

Ping G425 driver paired with a Velocore Blue. Driving the ball better than i have in years. Surprisingly low spinning head with silly forgiveness and well complimented by the velocore which is the least squirrely shaft i have ever hit.

Probably the PXG XP 6 iron. Haven’t carried a 6 iron opting for a 6 hybrid for a few years believing I couldn’t hit a 6 iron. Followed closely by the Ping G425 with the original  Alta shaft . At first I hated that shaft but put it back on for a test. Love it now.

I added patience to my bag this year. Not going great - chill out. Make a big score from nowhere - relax. It’s still better than being at work…

Wondered if there was anything to all the 7 wood chatter. The local shops had nothing for weeks. Then I found a TSi1 in the used bin. With a 40gm R Aldila Ascent shaft and a skinny Winn grip, figured at best I’d be buying a replacement shaft soon.

I was wrong, that light shaft works fine. This thing is a weapon. If I remember a  pause at the top, it delivers a baby draw on a perfect trajectory. And it was a steal!

For me its gotta be the TM 300 mini. A mini driver was never really on my radar, but ended up pulling the trigger and happy I did. Always struggled with 3W and this is filling a nice void in the slot behind my driver.

Switched nearly everything out regularly, so thats never a surprise, but the mini driver definitely wasnt expected.

Srixon Irons have been the big surprise for me this season, especially after doing my first ever fitting and getting the proper length and lie angle.

Gamed the Z 785’s most of the season and now have a combo set of ZX5/ZX7. Both sets dramatically improved my iron game!!

For me it’s center shaft putters.  I say putters plural because I still am not completely settled but going to a center shaft has improved my putting quite a bit.

Which ones have you tested.

Nickent 3DX DC 23° hybrid with a FST 115 stiff shaft and GP Tour Velvet +4 midsize grip. Has turned out to be a perfect 200 yard club for me.

2 things...

1. 4 hybrid was too long so I got a Srixon ZX4 4 Iron. Bent it to almost 23 degrees. Easy to hit, high flight, and gaps perfectly with my ZX5 5 iron. I haven't played a 4 iron in about 10 years.

2. As a result of the 4 iron working out... I took my 3 hybrid shaft and put that in the G425 4 hybrid head, got a 6 gram weight for the head to bring swing weight back down, and dropped the loft to 20.5. REALLY good results with this "3 1/2" hybrid. Anti left, really nice flight, and quite long.

Added a 7 wood based on others advice and it is easily one of the easiest clubs to hit even though for years I couldn't hit a fairway wood. It's so easy to hit I use it when my swing is off. I am also going to give hybrids another try based on my 7 wood success - a 4h to replace my 3 and 4 iron.

"Shirtsleeve" swing technique:

1. Setup: Elbows bent forearms pressed together against shaft slightly forward of center with "Hogan" "active/flexed" leg tension left foot turned out slightly and the right leg slightly farther to the right - weight mostly on balls of feet butt of left hands sits on the top of the grip with very light grip.

2. Swing - W/o disturbing weight distribution of legs and feet lower hands while doing a forward press "swing trigger" then the left upper arm takes over on the backswing, it needs to go out in front of the body then back in front of the chest as the hands trace down initially then up to over the right shoulder "Torres". The goal is to not disturb the pressure of the feet during the initial takeaway.

Notes:

1. Only swing thought after swing trigger - extend left arm at shirt sleeve when reaching left hand over right shoulder "Shirtsleeve technique".

2. The upper left arm move "Shirtsleeve technique" can be practiced independently without a club, sitting down for instance

3. The correct feet tension can be felt by doing very short hops on the balls of the feet then holding the same feeling of pressure on the front of the feet and then taking three practice swings with the grip very loose in order to not disturb the same pressure on the feet and on the 3rd swing actively do the "Shirtsleeve" move. From there the swing should be done within a matter of seconds to not lose the feel of the legs resisting, this way this is not a learned technique as much as it is a setup technique.
