What is the biggest surprise you added to your bag in 2021?

Adams Launch Lab in the bag is a surprise.  I cracked the face on my SIM. TM sent me a SIM2, I was going to sell the SIM2 and pocket the money to put towards a new driver in 22.  In the meantime I picked up a Launch Lab for about $60.  I forgot how good the Lab is.  I'll test it against the new stuff, but I may be set for a while.

You didn't plan to fail, you failed to plan!

Biggest surprise for me was moving out of a X-firm ball and moving back into a 2021 Pro V1. Love the flight and feel off the irons.

I have two that have combined to lower my index 3 points since the pandemic started.

Going thru the garage, I found a 64 degree Cleveland 588 RTG wedge, and a Ping Doc 12.5 Udrainium putter.

I call this combo the Up & Down twins.

PXG 0311 Gen3 XP 3 iron at 17* stock length 2 degrees flat for that next club after driver off the tee. Solid and the stock Elevate Tour shaft works really well with the head. Loving it

Did not expect to be sat here with a 1 iron in the bag but here I am. Picked it up on sale with the latest series of Titleist irons coming out. Absolute rocket launcher for me from the tee and playable from the deck. Great combination for me.

I started the year with Mizuno HMP's, went to Maltby DBM's, then spent much of the summer & fall with Callaway Apex's, but I'm ending with yet another run with some old Ping Eye 2+ BeCu's.  I just keep going back to them.  The nice part is learning all of my new distances... it's always 1 more club!

Set of Kirkland wedges from Costco. Impulsive pick up in the Summer figuring at worst they’ll end up in the used club closet. Have been great, very confident pitching, chipping and out of the sand. Only change needed is the grips, too thin but too lazy to clear space on the workbench to replace them.

Honestly, the biggest revelation has been the set of Callaway HawkEye fairway woods that I've got in my backup bag.  They are plenty long, incredibly forgiving, and the best bang for the buck fairway wood I have played...

Wood PING G (18.5*)

Irons PING G30 (6-SW)

Putter PING DS72 2021 (35")

The least biggest surprise was my 2011 Fli Hi remaining a go-to club. The actual surprise was finding a 3 wood I could actually hit in the TSi2, which I would never have bought if I didn't have a lucky gamble that netted me a huge amount of pro shop credit. This is the first time I've ever had a 3 and 5 wood in my bag, in 20 years of playing golf.

In a word(?)…. PXG

It’s been a strange, strange year. I never thought I’d buy anything from them. Their prices always seemed too steep for me to justify paying at my mid cap level.

Lo and behold, they’ve become the best value dollar for dollar out there right now IMO.

I tried their 0211 irons before settling on the Gen3 0311xp’s. I also have the Gen4 0811XF driver.
Never saw any of this coming… 😉

and in contradictory news, Cut driver down to 42"...... control is so much better and distance still there as center of face just got bigger

Always had 12 clubs.... finally added 2 hybrids for 14 clubs.... G425 in 22 and 30 degrees.... love em

Odyssey White Hot OG Rossie S (non-Stroke Lab) putter. Picked it up on a whim while waiting on my Toulon Las Vegas putter to show up, and damn if I don't putt better with the Rossie. It's been in the bag since late June and not going anywhere.

After playing multiple combinations of Ping driver heads, and shafts, I bought a PXG driver based off of what I had read on Golfwrx, and other review sites. I now own two Gen 4 drivers ( 0811x, and 0811xf), and they have been miracle clubs for me. I have never driven the ball better. Trying to figure out which one is the primary, and which one is the backup is my only dilemma now.

KBS TGI 95 & 100 iron graphite shafts.

Played many graphite shafts but these ones are so accurate, steel like flight & benefits of graphite. I was stunned by how good these shafts are & bang for the bucks affordable. Thank you Kim Braly 👍

Mini driver!! What a revelation. Game changer for me. Hitting so many more fairways.

Cleveland CBX2 wedges. Took a gamble on these and man has it paid off. Forgiving, soft feeling, lots of spin.

I would have laughed in your face in 2020 if you told me I’d be playing a mini driver and Cleveland wedges this year.

PXG for me.  Like some others have said.  I never thought I would have anything from PXG in the bag.  I started with a set of Gen2 0311T irons with Elevate Tour shafts, then bought a 4-LW set of 0211DC irons with MMT 80 graphite shafts.  I also have the Gen4 0811X driver.  The driver was a bit of a struggle until I put a HRZDUS Smoke IM10 shaft into it.  It totally transformed the driver for me.  The season is over here in Nova Scotia so no more buying for me, until next year.

Discovering the upright setting in my Sim 2 max driver

I have started using a Bridgestone B XS ball, surprised how good they are. And they are even much easier to add a Sharpie dot on to.

Callaway Epic Max Driver.  Acknowledged the fact that I turn 65 in two weeks and went down from PX 6.0 to 5.5 after getting on a launch monitor.  Picked up an extra 20-30 yards over the 6.0 and consistently in the short stuff.  Did the same with my 4 wood and for the first time ever am elevating a fairway wood off the deck as opposed to overswinging and hitting line drives.
