Best Cast Not Forged "Players" Club

Wanted to spark some opinions on the 'best cast not forged players club". 

 

My bias and favorite is the Ping iBlade.

Ping i210. Nothing else comes close.

Ping s55 is still a wonderful club. Stacks up against many modern day offerings.

I guess you guys think there was no such thing as cast player's clubs before 2010 so here's my choices.

 

Maxfli Revolution Black

Titleist 962 & 962b

Titleist 990 & 990b

Taylormade RAC LT irons (2003 version, the one with no decal that falls off)

Ping i3 and Ping i3+ Blades

And my personal favorite, the 1988 Tommy Armour 845s

As much as I love my I210s and am sure the winner will be something Ping related, I'll throw an odd one in for consideration in the R9 TP B's.

Another vote for Ping i210.  That iron does it all.

Ping is an obvious choice, but for us old timers, Cleveland made some of the best cast players irons known to mankind. I'm partial to the CG7 Tours I play, but Cleveland produced way too many great irons to mention.

I can't believe a thread that uses "cast" and "player's club" in the title survived 10 seconds on wrx without being locked and deleted! The horror!

 

I thought my Ping Eye 2+ were "player's clubs" when I got them back in the day - there were guys playing Eye 2's on Tour!  

 

It was close between those and some Titleist DCI irons when I was deciding - those Titleists were pretty darn good.

Ping S55's for me.  Just an unbelievable iron for my game.  Good at everything like the i210, but without the semi-porky aesthetics.

Titleist 962b, Ping s55, Taylormade R9 TP B, Cleveland CG16 tour are all great choices. Considering my avatar, shouldn’t be difficult to surmise which one I favor 😀

I had a set of DCI Gold irons including a 1-iron I used off the tee (back then I was never sure what zip code my driver would end up in). Fond memories of them. When I finally got new clubs it was i210 and those felt great as well.

Something that I’ve always wondered is why so many pros play Vokey wedges that are cast when there are forged irons out there? Does cast get a bad rap?

Vokeys are still made from 8620 which is soft.

The CG7 Tours are the cat's a**, for sure. If I could find a set of CG7 Tour Concepts in decent condition for a reasonable price, I could die a happy man.

Ping is the king of quality cast irons.  They offer various great "players" irons both past and present.  /thread

I'll add the 2009 Tour Preferred...even though to my eye the head size was perhaps a tad larger than "player" it looked good and performed nicely. Great evolution of the RAC LT/R7 TP.

 

S56 also a good looker and performer.
