Kuchar's red driver

Sorry if it's been asked (I did a search, to no avail), but what kinda driver is Kuchar playing in the match play? Bright red head with alignment lines.  Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. Definitely not the Bridgestone that was in his most recent WITB because I went to check that first.

It's an older Bridgestone head.

Yup, appears to be a 6 year old Bridgestone J815.

He is using at least 4 non Bridgestone clubs. Ping Anser hybrid, TM Sim Max 3 wood, Bettinardi putter and A Cleveland RTX zipcore wedge. Most of his bag is older clubs. J15CB irons and J40 wedge.

Yeah, I dig the old irons with their visible wear spots.  I guess it's just a sign that technology in drivers really has plateaued considerably of late.

He did clear water a while ago when Scotty came up short.  So can’t be that short.

The J815 came out in 2015 if I remember correctly and they did offer a black color to the Japanese market.  Much better in black IMO.

How is he only 42?! I was thinking he was 48/49. I just picture him with a bag full of Tour Edge Exotics and on the Champions Tour. Great player, but he’s as exciting to watch as drying paint. Sorry if you’re a fan. Back to the driver talk ✌

I loved that driver. It hit a beautiful draw every time just wasn’t too long. Probably the only driver I will never get rid of. Still bring it out on occasion for right courses

I think it just speaks more to what he wants/feels comfortable with. Kuchar is not a big hitter nor does he need maximum spin reduction, his needs are going to be much different than the more powerful guys out there. Not to mention it has been well established that he often uses older stuff.

Indeed.  It's probably helpful to guys like that to sign with a brand like Bridgestone since they're less likely to pressure players to use their latest stuff (given that its so hard to find over here anyway).  They're really more overall brand ambassadors than product pushers.
