Sim2 10.5 vs sim2 max 9

For those of you who have been on a launch monitor with these two drivers was there a noticeable difference in spin between the sim2 10.5 and the sim2 max 9.0.

i currently have a 9.0 max With ventus black and need a bit more launch without adding any spin.   I tried the ventus blue but it spun too much.   My thought process is adding a bit more loft with the lower spinning head may achieve the ball flight I’m trying to achieve.

Dre - for me, with all things being as close to equal as possible I saw a 500-600 uptick in spin for me between the two lofts.   Ventus Black 60x was the test shaft.  Ultimately I just couldn’t get comfortable in the right launch window/spin rates in either set up.

SS: 110mph

AoA: 3 up on average

spin at 9 degrees was roughly 2700 at a launch of 12.2-12.5

spin at 10 degrees was closer to 3200 and a launch of around 14.

I did tinker with adding loft on the 9 degree head but it made it look very shut to my eye and I personally hate a left miss.

hope this helps and again - just my observations. I ended up in a 10.5 Ping 425 Lst turned down to around 9.5 degrees and am hitting it really well and getting the numbers I like to see.  Basically at 14 launch with 22-2300 spin.  Just wish Ping could get the sound of their clubs more muted and solid feeling.  They are so loud!

Thanks for the reply, lots of good info. One question, when you were hitting the Sim drivers, were they both the Sim or Sim max version or one of each?

I don’t have any info for you about the Max but i can comment about my experience with the SIM2.  The 9* head i struggled with but then the fitter put in a 10.5 head and lowered the loft -.75 and i hit it way better.  Was using Ventus Blue 6x shaft.   Visually the 10.5 head one click lower loft just fit my eye so much better.

Loft will make the difference in ball flight and spin rather than shafts.  Since you want to go with loft, I would say lofting up to 10.5 would be just fine.  Easier to adjust from higher to lower loft IMO.  Better golfers prefer seeing an open face.

I went from a 9* original Sim Max to the Sim2 in 10.5 (turned down). Similar launch, lower spin IMHO

That’s exactly what I did.  Loved the look of the 10.5 turned down a click
