Above are promo images from both Srixon and Hogan. I have hit the Srixon Z5x and Z7x, and the Hogan irons, on multiple occasions. The beveled soles from both companies had a smooth feel upon impact, didn't hang up in the turf.

My swing: I have a medium descent angle. On zoysia fairways I tend to cut the turf down to the soil for a bare spot the size of a quarter. On bent grass, I take a small, replaceable divot.

I don't have the ZX7's but do have the 785s and just sent back the demo ptx pros after trying them for two weeks. My experience was that the soles play a bit differently despite them looking similar from a design standpoint. I would classify myself as a digger and can take a good size divot in soft conditions. I even take a tiny divot with my 3 wood. The Hogans can best be described as a hot knife going through butter. The club just plows through all lies and feels effortless going through the turf. I get a nice crisp, uniform divot that doesn't dig and is fairly shallow. The 785s on the other hand, felt clunky going through the turf for my swing. I struggled to get the same clean effortless divot that I got with the hogans. I also tended to catch them a groove low. If I remember correctly the ptx pro soles were a hair wider and the v was closer to the leading edge while the 785 is closer to the middle.  From a forgiveness perspective, the 785s punish slight mishits more than the Hogans. I believe the multi-material construction of the hogans generates better ball speed on mishits. If you hit the PTX Pros somewhat close to the center you are going to be rewarded with a good shot. Miss the 785 a little bit and the performance drops off. That's my 2 cents others may have had the opposite experience.

I had the 765's and struggled a bit with the V sole, especially in firm conditions. Clunky would be a good description. I know Srixon has changed the sole a bit since then, but......

I've hit a friends Hogans and felt they didn't have the same issues.

Im going to be honest.. i saw some reviews of the sx7 and thought wow of these look good in person and the topline is not so thick then they sounds like a great option. Well in person they looked better then i thought they even would plus the topline wasnt too bad at all. They said they were really nice and soft feeling.... ahhh.. not what i expierinced. In my opinion they were definetly on the harsh side. I actually put them down after 3 shots because everything else i hit felt wayy better. Thats just my opinion as far as an in store trial. Maybe on course they are a touch different but that was a deal breaker to me. The sole seemed cool but couldn't tell on a indoor matt what it was really doing.

What irons did you hit that you thought felt better?

Personally, I love the V soles on my ZX5's. They are the type of innovation one has to feel to fully appreciate. In my hands the sole quickly enters the turf then exists just as quickly. As a result my divots are shallow and crisp, and the club feels like it rips through the turf with little effort. I played last weekend and I'm convinced the soles saved a few swings from being fat disasters. Also, I made a few great swings where the turf interaction was better than anything I've experienced. Honestly, it was so good I was a bit surprised at impact. Just my thoughts, but if possible I recommend you try them out.

Side note: I don't notice the V sole at all hitting off matts. I can't feel a thing until I get on turf. As such, practice vs on course provide different feels, which led to some the surprise I mentioned above.
