It's about dang time.  He's been trending in the right direction for a while now, but it's good to see him finally win again, regardless of who was in the field.  Well done Jordan!

A win is a win. He still had to overcome the pressure in his own mind and finish the deal.

It's not his fault that Jack, Arnie, Tiger, and Trevino weren't playing : )

It's a long road back.   Just don't want to get ahead of ourselves calling him the next Tiger or stating Jordan's adversity is parallel to Hogan's comeback or some other nonsense such as that.  Golf history is abound with players that fell off only to return for a short glimpse of their former glory but never regain their full command.

He's never been the 'next Tiger' to any sane person...I think people root for him because he seems like a nice guy.

The only time I've compared him to Tiger was for his short game. When he is 'on' and putting well, YJS is as good as anyone around the greens imho.

Really?

Read back a few years here on WRX and in the press.  "They" spoke of Jordan winning up to 5-6 majors in succession, being the next great one.  "They" went on and on about Greller/Jordan being the next Phil/Bones combination.  "They" spoke of early greatness in the likeness of Tiger and Jack.   It all became very nauseating with only a "few" of the better pundits saying that golf can be streaky.  The next thing you know he's getting married and the house of cards is falling down.

It was a good win, I'll give him that.

Honestly does not matter who was chasing.........he was chasing himself. He had to hit the shots and putt to win. Now when and if it ever comes down to full contact golf, that will be a different story......

It's not Jordan's fault "they" were saying all of those things.  I'm not saying you said that just pointing it out.  I think he understands just how ephemeral success can be in golf - all he has to do is look at his buddy Smiley Kaufman.  I'm admittedly a fan but wasn't entirely surprised that he hit a rough patch.  Rory is seemingly headed down that path a bit now whether he wants to admit it or not.  I thought Jordan would find his way back to the winner's circle but you can never be sure.  He was never Smiley Kaufman lost.  He still hit a lot of good shots but there were those all too frequent outliers that would creep in.  Even when it seems close there are some guys who never come back from that.  Heck Stricker fell off the map a couple times but managed to find his way back.  Making that journey is hard but I think it makes the guys who make it back stronger in the end.  It was a good win.  He was either -11 or -12 on the weekend and that's pretty good around that place.

...and Hoffman shot a 66.

Jordan won, it had nothing to do with the chasing pack not playing well enough.

I was just making a joke, as a PGA fan there is no such thing really as a weak field as far as I am concerned. Charlie Hoffman is in the hunt in a lot of tournaments he plays in, and there were a number of major winners in the field.

And Tiger definitely would have won in 2019 at the US Masters had multiple players in contention not washed it at 12.

Things need to go your way to win tournaments.

Okay, perhaps it's not a matter of fault but rather action and reaction.  The guy was winning and then decided to make changes.  It's what separates talent/execution from a head case.  Only a few are blessed (or cursed) to stay grounded and never lose focus.  I say cursed because I'm sure never being content in golf must be laborsome.  I like Jordan but I think he will never rise again to the nonviable expectations of pundits and fans alike.

Here is how a person is "typically" chased.

Maybe you could explain, show or demonstrate how Jordan chases himself.

go chase oneself  {v. phr.},  {slang}
Go away and stop being a nuisance.

I'm shocked that a person of your intellect and sophistication, would not understand that it's a metaphor for dealing with a condition that inhibits ability. In JS case, he apparently was successful in overcoming this........

I have never heard the terminology "to chase himself"  as it relates to golf.  He overcame personal challenges to chase down Hoffy and Wallace and secure a win.

I've posted before in the "what's up with Speef???" thread about it, but long and short I've been blessed to interact with Jordan back when he was in high school as well as with some people who have played against him in a competitive setting.

There's no quit in him. If you can ask anyone that's had to put a peg in the ground on the same tee box in any competitive environment they'd tell you the same. Hell someone earlier even quoted Will Zalatoris as basically saying "we were all chasing him and he set the bar". I'll give credit to overcoming the wrist injury and navigating the setbacks it created, because I don't feel he needs a BS excuse for the trip he's been through. He seems to be rounding into form again, but time will tell. Too many people want to say "well he didn't win X or Y or Z tournament" in this adventure, but let's be real: there's 132+ PGA Professional golfers chasing the same trophy and the same check every single week. Everyone out there wants to be the next Joel Dahmen or Cory Conners on Tour, then you roll in the JTs and DJs... winning isn't easy. A stack of top 5s and a win is a great sign. I'm looking forward to this weekend, I'd love to see him show up in full flight.
