Radeon, can you tell me what you think of your 1050 shaft? Any experience with this vs other Nippon shafts eg 950/980/Modus 105? Cheers.

Played the Modus3 Tour 105 for quite some time and similar but the Modus are stiffer in the tip and mid so slightly lower spin and launch.  Same feel but just slightly stiffer feel overall.

950 is very much the same as the 1050 just obviously lighter and just a touch softer overall than the 1050 so just a marginal higher launch but spin was very similar to the 1050.

Played the Modus3 105 in several sets of Pings (i5, i200, G700 and i210).  Great shaft with great feel.

When I switched to PXG 0211 with 2* strong loft I wanted a bit more height and spin and the 1050 have been ideal.  Same great dispersion as the 105 but just a bit softer overall with a touch more launch and spin which is what I wanted with the stronger lofts.

In a blind test I doubt you would tell the difference between the 950/1050 but could tell the Modus3 105 as it is just a bit more stiffer overall that you can feel it, not in a bad way though, just a bit different feel.

As long as you have ball and distance control and YOU like the result, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks.  Those numbers have nothing to do with the flex, either.

I could play other shafts, and stronger lofted more forgiving irons and realize greater distance.  But golf is NOT about distance it's about one's ability to golf his ball and score.

You are absolutely right. The number on the bottom of the club is only there for identification. Know your distance with each number regardless of how far your buddies club goes and you will prosper.

Haha, he is PAID by Ping to change clubs.

Then why hasn;t he?  He is still playing S55 irons and Glide 2 wedges...  Not the latest stuff by any means!!

BTW FYI  I shot -1 70 today in 20 MPH winds with gusts to 30.  So tinkering must be helping...

At least the OP didn't ask p**** size cuz we would have had some ridiculous lengths posted here.

😅😅😅

At my age, you care little about how your junk stacks up, happy that it still stacks. Seems the envy & angst is coming from a reflection. I posted to show what can be attainable, somewhat flattered it's called near tour average. Btw, it isn't. Regret I participated.

If one really wants to add distance, avoid demo day, find an old MB or cast set with S400 or X100 and learn to load them. I used to play a 425g #5i, I now play a 445 gram #5i. Mass & reps, just like Arnold, makes you strong and there's no need for roids, so your tool bag will never look like it was in the cold Atlantic.

At the Masters, average club used on 155 yard #12 is 9i. Most are above hole too. Tell me again how these guys hit a #7i only 172?

Is that what's announced, or what's actually been hit?   😉🤔

Rose stuck a PW from 140 on #17.  On #16 standard was 8i for 170. I watched JR hit 6i to a picnic blanket at 195 in 25 mph, 2 club head wind at the 2019 Bethpage PGA. On the range he was the best I saw that day. He was pretty good today too.
