G400 Max, G410 Plus or G425 Max. Great deals on G400 right now. Any reason to buy newer offerings?

Looking at Ping drivers. I’ve heard great things about the 400 Max, obviously. Just wondering if there’s any noticeable benefit from the 410 or 425 models. I’m definitely not adverse to spending on new (I do it way too often, tbh😂), but I see great deals all over the place on 400 Max. I know the stock answer is to go get fitted, but I love the input I see on here from all you golf nuts. Thanks!!

Just my experience play my G400 max 10.5 ° at 10° average around 2400 spin. Got fitted for G410 last year and had to go up to 12° head to get spin rate up to 2400. Hit G425 briefly didn't like the feel (felt kind of back heavy to me) just didn't like it so never got into spin numbers just sticking with 400 max for now

The G400 line was legendary, would be hard to significantly improve upon it if youre dialed in the same.  I have the LST still and am still loving every bit of it.

The 400 Max is one of the best ever.  Will most likely be straight and reliable.  I moved mine then regretted it and have gotten into a 410 LST.  Spin is a little less than the 400 max but I prefer the look of the 410 as well as the sound so it has been working out well.  The 410 LST is not as low spin as the 400 LST for me and I don't have much experience with the 425.  They are all good and IMO, take a lot less fidgeting to find a shaft that produces good results.  I'd save a few bucks and go 400/410 for sure.

If you hit it out of the middle, they're all the same 😉

I've owned all three and for me the noticeable difference was in the sound. they all sound different. none bad, but all different.  I am an amateur golfer and my swing is too variable to notice a performance difference between them.  My Arccos data says the 400 and 410 were about the same. the 425 doesn't have enough mileage yet to know how it compares, but so far the data says I still hit ~52% of fairways and I miss left more than right...

more than likely your delivery is going to add or remove spin far more than the driver head will.  All of those Ping drivers are pretty forgiving and will spin up if you hit them low on the face.

Hope this helps

You won't know whatsoever until you compare. For me the G425 MAX is lower spinning which suited me and it's awesome. I've seen numerous people go both ways on it.

Regardless you can buy the G400 or 410 model that suits your required spin rate and have a winner.

FWIW, I am a 400 Max player with Evenflow Black 70S shaft.  When I got there, fitter said that he loved a challenge but it would be hard to beat what I was already playing.  We went through the TM/Titleist/Cobra heads with stock and upgraded shafts (Tour AD, Ventus Black, etc) and both the 425 heads.

The bottom line, is that there MAY have been a small spin improvement with the 425 LST but there was no improvement with distance or dispersion or ball speed.

Like you, I was open to buying new if there was a difference - but for me, there was nothing measurable and we tried.

Was great that the fitter handed my 400 Max back to me and told me it was the right driver and check back in two years.

I think the potential advantage of the G425 is adjustability.

But you need to be fairly consistent for that adjustability to pay dividends.

The G410 suited me better than the G400, but I couldn't stand the sound.

On tour you still see The G400 driver, but not so much the Max, its either the LST or the standard G400. Im using the G410 plus and when I bought it the price on G400 max was the same so I went with the newer one since I got a few extra yards out of it. But Im sure that I couldve played both and it wouldnt affect my score. But if you have a chance to test first, check out the standard G400 also. Smaller head which I like.
