Best ball for 100 mph driver SS?

Recommended Posts

Looking for some recommendations.
I have a 100 mph driver swing speed. Naturally hit the ball pretty high.

With that said, my miss off the tee is a hard slice, so I prefer the the X balls (Tp5x, Chromesoft X etc) off the tee because it seems to mitigate that miss. Also prefer those for distance with longer clubs again for minimal spin and more distance.

However, around and on the green I find those balls quite clicky, especially off the putter face. Much prefer the standard versions in those spots.

Any ball out there that could be considered the best of both worlds? Got some events coming up this season so really want to lock in on a ball for the year.

PRO V1 checks all the boxes. Softer, no click, flies lower, goes far...go forth

A ball is not going to fix a slice.

Should have said, a ball is not going to change significantly the amount it slices. Especially with a "hard slice".

The Srixon Z-Star XV performs like Pro V1x but is softer.  It is not quite as soft as Pro V1 but reasonably close.  It is a good compromise and if you’re patient you can often find them on sale for a great price.

If u are a slicer I would look at something a little cheaper.. the srixon line of balls are great..z star as well as the q star tour

I’m not really a slicer, generally a pretty straight flight. Slice is just my bad miss with driver and 3 wood.
Have tried Srixon balls and have never gotten along with any of them.

Leaning towards AVX, but may just stick with TP5X or CSX and figure them out around the green. Thanks all!

Thanks for that awesome piece of information. I don’t slice often, however that is my big miss. On the occasions it does happen, it is nice to have a ball that doesn’t spin as much off the tee to mitigate the damage.

Thanks for your great contribution to the discussion 👍🏿

Around 100-105 driver swing speed here and right now I really like the Bridgestone Tour B-RX. I waffled between the BX and the Taylormade TP5x all last season and liked them both but they felt rock hard off the tee. I gave the RX a try and it’s just as long (probably even longer) and feels much softer off the face, haven’t seen any losses/differences in irons or wedges. I’ve never been too picky about feel off the putter so can’t comment there.

+1 for the tour B RX.  Surprisingly soft but low spin with plenty of green side sauce.  It is the best of both worlds ball. I’m switching to the RXS this season cuz I prefer the softer feel in short game, but for OPs description RX is the ball he’s looking for.

Tour B X or Tour B RX should give you what you are looking for.

B X will likely be longer with the driver and more spin with irons.

B RX will be straighter with driver and a bit less spin with irons.

Both should give you all the greenside spin you are looking for.

Good luck!

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
