Having a club that prominently says "tour issue", "tour use only",  "pros only" and the like is just stupid.  I can miss a six-footer just as easily with a tour use only magical wand or a junky putter from a starter set.

Yeah, but you can only get the head cover on tour, so that makes it totally worth it.🤣

You can play fine with grips that are too small but you will suck if your grips are too big

There will never be a better Lob Wedge made than a Vokey (others - whatever...)

You do not need to use heavier shafts because "it helps your timing" ... your game is probably missing something else

Please tell us how you really feel about Titleist and Acushnet.

Maybe some day.  Such as, when I write my memoir.

Because there's a great deal of interest in the memoir of a grant accountant golfer and former bowler.

I can agree with the cult part but that was back when they had the 900 series drivers. They've kinda changed the image of the brand with the TSI and T-Series irons as well, but I still think a lot of people may be hesitant. I've only had 1 Titleist club in my bag.

  • The Pro V1/Pro V1X is/are the biggest scam perpetrated on the golf public.  It's not that good.
  • Cameron putters are the second biggest scam of the golf public.  It's one thing to copy popular designs, it's completely another to be pompous about doing so
  • Titleist is a cult.

Haha...yeah, these were my unpopular opinions back on Page 2!! 🤣

Honestly, I think the Pro V1 and Pro V1X are so bad that I have a ziplock bag full of 29 of them that I've picked up on courses that I use as a weight to keep my hitting net from getting blown over on windy days! 🤑🤣

  • Equipment doesn't matter as much as familiarity with equipment.
  • Same goes for the ball. My buddy paying 48 a dozen for proV1s yet hasn't gotten better in the past 15 years. Could have saved thousands if he just bought NXT tours or something half the price and would be the exact same golfer he is now.
  • Scotty Cameron hasn't come out with a good putter in a decade.

"Standard spec" irons off the rack are too heavy, too short, too flat and don't have enough loft for your average golfer.

Most everyone except for very high speed players would benefit from more loft across their entire bag. This is especially true of beginners and lower speed players.

Cleveland Golf equipment is like the farmer's fat daughter.    She sits in the dark.   She ain't pretty.    No one wants to admit that they secretly met her or touched her.   But when they get her in the open field with no one watching, they have the most excitable experience of a lifetime.  And then you have to quickly put her back in the bag and to hide so that no one ever knows.

I use a lot of Cleveland clubs, and this made me laugh. Thanks for making my day.

- Players should consider shorter - not longer - shafts in their woods.
- The only golf ball worth playing is a PV1.
- Blade putters are the worst.

- Titleist irons don’t actually feel that good.
- Srixon isn’t cool and won’t be no matter how much someone wants them to be.
- Ping bags have gone downhill in quality.
- SIM2 is overrated.
-  5 woods are under appreciated and under used by most good players.
- Vokey wedges don’t feel that great but look awesome.
- Dynamic Gold step shafts are still the best

- “Game Improvement” irons don’t actually materially improve most players games and those players would be better off practicing with “normal” irons.
- A full rack of blades > combo set.
- Theres nothing wrong with having most of your clubs from one manufacturer.
- Scotty Cameron putters > all else.

There.  I feel like I’ve sufficiently pissed off everyone. 😎

Fitting by swing speed is borderline pointless. Not a fan of oh you swing 105+ get x stiff. I’ve seen guys swinging 115 push everything with xstiff and hit beautiful draws with plain old stiff shafts.

I can definitely agree with this. My swing speed is technically stiff level but I don't have any issues with my reg flex clubs, granted I'm in a weird spot where my swing speed is on the edge of regular and stiff.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Titleist only make other balls to hit a price point. Which it suggested everyone should be using a Pro V. I mean why wouldn't you if cost wasn't an issue? It's not like the bad old days of balata where you took a massive distance hit just to get the ball to stop.

Because of course it couldn't have been your swing or grip or anything.

Don't you know? It's never the swing. Only the clubs.

- Nah, I don't really care about driver shafts. I get great carry from the stock stuff (then steps up and hits a slice two fairways over....)

Normally I will agree, but in some instances what you get as a tour issue is different from retail.  My irons are a good example, they look very different from the retail version and are made of a soft casting. It's an upgrade in the looks and feel. With that, it certainly doesn't make me better, I'd still put up the same big number at the end of the day regardless of what was in my bag, but it's nice having something pleasing to the eye.

They do.  At least I saw a fair amount of them at a local shop a week ago or so.  (Austads).  Too much heel drop for me.  I prefer ecco for that reason.
