100%!! I don’t understand the appeal of having multiple sets of clubs?

If someone likes clubs enough to keep them, then why aren’t they gaming them?

And if they’re never going to use them again, then why are they keeping them and taking up space in their garages/basements?

I like having another set as a loaner when someone visits from out of town.

None of my friends are lefty, but I did just buy a ghetto set for $50 off Facebook so my buddy can hack with me.

Yeah, that makes sense. Unfortunately that wouldn't work out for me since I'm 6'7 and my irons/wedges are +1.5" and 2* upright, but that makes sense in principal for most people.

-Out of the big OEMs, the only real iron companies are Titleist, Ping, and Mizuno. They are the only ones releasing something I would play every cycle.

-Callaway clubs are hideous. They only stay in business because of Odyssey.

-Drivers should be limited to 300cc. Loft should be limited to 58.

-Poker chip ball markers are stupid. If you don't play poker, it's lame; if you do play poker, it's stupid to pay $5 for a worthless poker chip when you can get one from the casino that is actually worth what you pay.

-I love Jordans in real life but they have no business as a golf shoe.

-Joggers are stylish and comfy.

-People who have can't deal with minor inconveniences in their round (music, paired with strangers or bad players, etc.) are jerks and the worst thing for the game (does not include slow play).

-You should be required to demonstrate a minimum of ability (e.g., to advance the ball 200 yards) to be allowed on certain courses.

-Pete Dye is a bum

Maybe make taller friends😂...since baller is in your name I’m guessing hoops, where some of them are likely to be tall. So maybe for when an old teammate visits.

amen to that! I get the concept for roads and the outer property lines of a course, but modern courses with OOB on nearly every hole are comical.

The most penalising rule in sports is the DQ for no signature.

Also, hate to break it to ya, but in rugby, you'll see "penalty tries", which are the moral equivalent of said DPI TD.

Courses should use OB sparingly, but they are suggested to use it for property lines and safety. And if you think it's bad now, it used to be three strokes for a time, and for a very long time, two strokes.

Plan accordingly. 🙂

😂 Love these takes!

I do like some of the Jordan golf spikes though. They basically put a Jordan upper on a Nike sole plate (ie the XI's sole are similar, if not the same, as the Roshe G Tours, and the Roshes might be one of their best golf shoes).

I have a feeling everyone and pros should be playing game improvement irons!  The bigger the sweet spot the better, doesn't mean they have to be distance irons, cause of gaps, but you want largest sweet spot.

Good players saying they want a smaller club they can work is BS.  You can work all level of clubs.  Plus you don't want to work it a ton just a little in most cases, unless a rescue shot which you can still do with any club.

Top Tennis Rackets and Softball Bats are made with largest sweet spots for a reason.... I played

A few years ago I saw a senior boy get DQ’ed for even worse. He started the day on hole 10 and the kid keeping his scorecard started his scores on hole 1 on the card. At the end of the round, the kid read off his scores in order and they were correct so the boy signed it. He realized later the mistake and self-reported the error. His reward was a DQ. His score was top-5 at the time. Completely pointless rule.

Nike made a lot of really decent equipment.

I heard somewhere, I think the MGS, "No Putts Given" Podcast, that the biggest jump in tour driving distance in recent history was when Nike got out of the club game and the Nike staffers moved to the other OEMs. I'd imagine the release of the ProV1's and metal drivers would be how far you would have to go back to have a larger jump.

That being said Nike did have some good stuff, mainly irons.

I live in texas where it’s summer 6 months of the year, having a staff bag isn’t a hack move when you ride.

music on course is not awful if it’s quiet and tasteful

most people would putt better with a toe hang putter. No one goes straight back and straight through

superstrokes are still trash

That's where we see the issue, though. One person's taste is another's trash and vice versa.

I didn't use a ton of their woods. My main go with them was the Vr Tour driver, which I absolutely loved. Other than that I didn't mess with too many woods. To support your point about the irons, the Vr Pro blades are still in and out of my bag and I think are one of the nicest blades I've ever hit.

IMO, nobody makes irons as well as Mizuno or PING, so I don't play anything but Mizuno or PING.  I've tried other brands, but they suck for me.  It's not snobbery, it's just using what you know works.  Taylormade stuff (especially woods) makes me want to puke, and I hit their clubs like I'm actively puking while swinging.  They just suck for me.  That's why the different OEMs are all successful.  They each cater to different people who like different things.  It's not ignoring performance, it's going with what you know performs.

“modern clubs”

sorry this phrasing when in use with referring to last year’s or previous gens to me seem so confusing. Like when does the term modern start?
2000? 2005? 2015 ? lol like am I just missing the usage completely with context or are people just trying to sound informed 🤷🏻‍♂️🥴😂
