Probably just me, but the most expensive golf balls all feel the same to me, all of them fly roughly the same and spin roughly the same, I have now decided to just buy whatever I can get a good price on

When I play solo, I play 3/4 balls. Bridgestone E6, Taylormade TP5, Srixon Q Star Tour, and an orange ball of either Nitro or Spalding. I swear the orange Nitro Crossfire, Tour Distance Soft,  Pulsar, and Max Distance play pretty much the same. I don't notice a difference in feel, or spin, or distance.

Maybe if I get a little more consistent I will notice. But I can  hit the green with any of them. Or miss it, too. 🤣

My new favorite is actually the Inesis 500 soft in matte orange at $16/dozen. Just got them a month ago, but really like the matte finish.

Can't this be said for pretty much any equipment?

The point of the different designs is to reduce the amount of practice one has to do 🙂

Yes - I could practice and learn to putt with a toe-hang, obviously. But my natural stroke is such that a face balanced putter works better with less time and effort. So obviously I get a face balanced putter.

Therefore the putter matters, to me.

Speaking of putters, nothing has helped my putting more than having an adjustable putter. Hugely underrated.

If you think you can't see differences with length changes as little as 1/8th of an inch, you haven't tried one. Sure, you can mess about at a box store, with their generous turf and 5' putts, but at 14', it doesn't take much to be off by 1 or 2 inches. Yet dialing in a putter can do that.

I've even come to believe that it's more important than graphite. Graphite is a good thing in a putter, but I'm unlikely to return as long as it matters to change it every once in a while. I'm really good with 32.9", and I pull (an inch left) at 33".

Also, most putters are far too long. 35"? What are you, 6'3? Start by getting your eyes over the dang ball, let your arms hang, and whatever will be will be. Usually it'll be sub-34". (Other techniques exempted, of course.)

I know a gentleman in Maryland, used to chat with him on another golf forum.  Have met him, played golf with him, etc.

He's 6' 7" tall, but his wrist to floor is 42".  I'm thinking a 36" putter might be a bit short for him.

Average putter length used on PGA is 34". I've always been baffled by the 36" standard that is stocked everywhere. I use 33.5" now, may even try 32" someday.

Ummmmmm, stocked everywhere ?

I saw my first 36" putter at the PGATSS in at least 3 years or so. It happened to be a current Ping model.

33-35, sure. 36" ? Very seldom.

When I actually cared to look, 36" was most abundant, never a 34", never a 33". My reference is last 30 years but I have not putter shopped in last three. Whatever.

First, don't want to "ban" anything for putter length. Don't lump me in to that convo.

36" used to be a common length years and years ago, and now 35 is common. Many are also 34 and some 33.

If you're 6'5 and you want a 36 or 37, by all means. Your average 5'9 guy can't get his eyes directly over the ball with a 34.

Don't want this to be a kerfluffle but I've been something of a club junkie especially for putters, in and around the NYC area for near 35 years and I don't recall ever seeing many 36" putters.

35 seems the dominant length (I'm thinking because they can easily be cut down). 34s are close and there are usually a fair sprinkling of 33s around - but 36 has always been rare ime.

Highly doubtful - I play 35.5" and have never once bought a putter that was that length or longer. I always have to extend my putter 1/2" or 1 1/2" depending on the standard length. That's been true for at least 10 years.

To a point.  I agree that one doesn't have to spend $300+ to get a quality putter and that practice will ultimately improve ones putting over the long haul but I do believe this is a bit oversimplified.  There are certain characteristic putters that suit certain putting strokes (SBST, Slight Arc, Strong Arc).  Sure if you have a putter more suited to SBST and you have a slight arc you can practice to develop a SBST stroke but that can take more time.  It may be more prudent and a more effective use of time to trade that putter in for one that is more suited to your stroke.

Okay I'm lying, you caught me..............there's 15K of 35" putters on eBay right now. There's 7K from 35.5 -to 37". I was lying about the length of my putters, they are not 33.5", they are 32". PGA average is 34". Think they know a thing or two about putting and they are not all sized like Rory or Casey.

leading question...

I've given my buddies free reign to punch me (anywhere) if I ever showed up with either white pants or a white belt.

For the record 33 waist / 7.4 index

Ha. Honestly it's just so wannabe tour pro posing and is just really cringeworthy.  Fortunately I don't see it as much as I did 5-10 years ago.

Iron covers are hideous.

Scotty Cameron is over rated.

Walking only speeds up the game if you are already in shape.

Playing the tips just so you get more "yad fo dolla". At least hit it to the forward tees.

A rangers job is to keep up pace of play, not how many balls can they find.

Music on the course is only good if it's mine.

Every new driver is not 3 to 5 yards longer than the last model, If that were true I would bee in the 500 yard club, that club would exist if that statement was true.
