Also, most putters are far too long. 35"? What are you, 6'3? Start by getting your eyes over the dang ball, let your arms hang, and whatever will be will be. Usually it'll be sub-34". (Other techniques exempted, of course.)

According to who? For starters your comment presupposes that there is only one way to set up to the ball and that it's a fundamental truth that a player should have their eyes directly over the ball. Of course, neither of these things are true.

Can we lump in skin tight pants that leave nothing to the imagination?  Nobody wants to see that.  For that matter, I would also add jogging pants that have those elastic cuffs on the bottom.  Horrid.

My unpopular opinion is the opposite of this: Joggers are GREAT. They're absolutely perfect for golf when it's too cold for shorts. Infinitely more comfortable than golf pants.

Going to join @eric61 on this bandwagon.   You also don't get muddy/wet trouser bottoms in winter golf wearing joggers.

I don't really have a problem with the jogger look, it's more that my club and others around me don't allow them. Still, in the winter you see plenty of guys wearing hybrid pants with those kind of cuffs so maybe the trend is shifting.

Speaking of putters, nothing has helped my putting more than having an adjustable putter. Hugely underrated.

If you think you can't see differences with length changes as little as 1/8th of an inch, you haven't tried one. Sure, you can mess about at a box store, with their generous turf and 5' putts, but at 14', it doesn't take much to be off by 1 or 2 inches. Yet dialing in a putter can do that.

I've even come to believe that it's more important than graphite. Graphite is a good thing in a putter, but I'm unlikely to return as long as it matters to change it every once in a while. I'm really good with 32.9", and I pull (an inch left) at 33".

Also, most putters are far too long. 35"? What are you, 6'3? Start by getting your eyes over the dang ball, let your arms hang, and whatever will be will be. Usually it'll be sub-34". (Other techniques exempted, of course.)

Yes.  Yes I am.  Lol. Spent a lot of time at 34.25.  But as I crossed over 40 it went to 35.  Same reason many have said. I can practice longer with more upright posture.

but I do understand what you’re saying.  A lot of people would putt better with their eyes closer to the ball/line.

Not all putting instructors believe in having your eyes over the ball, or so I'm told.  Have seen several comments along these lines over the years on another forum...    <shrug>

It’s a personal thing for sure. For me it’s much like jack - I’m left eye dominant but play righty.  So my dominant eye isn’t behind the ball or looking down the line. Think like sighting a rifle.  You use your dominant eye. If you don’t you can’t shoot. I adapted to that by working my left eye into a position of binocular Vision.  I’m a really great shot without a scope.  Nearly blind with one. Unless I shoot lefty.  Which I can do.

getting down over  the line helps in seeing for putting this way too.  For me. My absolute best putting feel is to crouch much like jack , get the ball forward and my head behind and on the line.  And putt with the right hand.  I can “ see “ the line that way. Conventional method I’m blind at address.

I prefer eyes over the ball, myself.  I don't do the crouch like Jack, but I will open my stance and lean back slightly.  Helps me see the line better.

Okay I can agree on the stamping on the irons. Stamping on the wedges is cool buy yeah not for resale. Sun Mountain is about the only bag you can get away with not matching lol

Still waiting on that Sun Mountain driver to come out 😆

I agree though, a forgiving hollow-body long iron has better utility than a hybrid in most cases and it's more likely to be built the same or similar to your iron set. Customizing clubs though...depends. Paintfill and ferrules are all good but stamping should only be for wedges that won't go to resale.

Hybrid iron sets like the Cleveland HB Turbo/Halo XL, W/S Launchpad, and Cobra T-Rail are not just for high handicaps, slow swing/short knockers, and seniors.  Anyone who cannot consistently break 80 owes it to themselves to demo these types of clubs.

I wouldn’t mind a 5 or 6 iron in that style. Too much pride in golf though

In no order of importance:

- Playing music in carts sux major league and is a distraction to other players.

- Most slow play is caused by players not getting to their ball quickly and being ready to hit. It's the time spent between shots, not the time over the ball that creates slow play.

- For most ams >5 hcap, 3 woods (especially strong 3 woods) are useless or vanity clubs. The 13.5 to 16 degree range of FW or HY is a waste of space.

- Total weight is underrated. Swingweight is overrated.

- Putter optics are underrated. Putter MOI is overrated. If you can't aim it, you can't game it.

- Aldila's QA sux. More than one clubmaker has told me that of all the shafts they measure, Aldila's have been consistently off in terms of not only stated spec, but FLO (flat line oscillation/spines).

- Lamkin grips are much better value than Golf Pride's. Better product and last longer.

- Thick putter grips rob you of feel.

Smh I'll never be able to wear a white belt.. My hip bones are like 35-36"

Exactly. I’m a 36. Which measures about 35 1/4.  And my hip bones protrude. As in no fat covering them. Just some skin.  I think the 34 rule is for men’s mediums.  If you’re full size the rule is probably 36.  But I’d never be caught dead in a white belt.  What leather is white anyway ?  Albino gator ?  Maybe.

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
