100%!! I don’t understand the appeal of having multiple sets of clubs?

If someone likes clubs enough to keep them, then why aren’t they gaming them?

And if they’re never going to use them again, then why are they keeping them and taking up space in their garages/basements?

I have agreed in principle with these posts saying I buy too much equipment.

However my reasons for the backup sets I have now are mainly sentimentality and a distant second is the money I'd get back for them. I doubt I'd get more than $5 for the Wilson k-28 irons that were my first set, and they were given to me by my dad. My Cleveland VAS are in decent condition and I MAYBE could get some money, but those are the first set of irons I bought for myself. I'd like to think I'll play my current irons into the ground, so maybe I'd just give them to the shop to scrap/do with what they please. If for some reason I get rid of them before that and they're playable, I'd trade them in or donate them. I don't really want more than I've got now.

Totally fair...makes sense.

Personally I don’t have any emotional attachments to any of my clubs. I treat them well and clean them/maintain them while I have them, but once I feel like I won’t use them anymore, it’s time to sell them.

To each their own though, and if I had a set that my Dad bought me, maybe I’d hold onto those too.

This is me, mostly. I will donate my OG irons because they have little value, but I tend to sell things I no longer use to make money and/or room for more.

My current gamers were a fluke that might have been an initial investment, but quickly learned they also have little value. To my surprise, they play amazing, so they replaced my Nikes.

The lefty set I ordered from BGD will either be gamers, or "specials". With only 15 sets getting built in the trial run, they might be both awesome and rare. Or they might just be rare. Either way they are very affordable and I am supporting a semi-local business that is trying to make quality clubs available in lefty.

I could see having a "Sunday bag" and that might be the BGD's, or it could be the KZG's, either way they are a conversation piece.

Byrdie Golf Designs out of Coeur d'Alene Idaho. Another member on here got a set of their phase 2 irons and they looked great. I asked about lefties and they said "soon". About 3 weeks ago the owner sent me a Facebook message saying that they had started and would be shipping in May. At $425 for a 4-PW set of forged Blades, I couldn't say no to that.

The fact that hitting the ball while standing to the RIGHT of it is considered LEFT. When my left is simply along for the ride during my swing.

I am right handed and hit from the right side of the ball because my dominant hand is leading the way. Someone somewhere deemed it "left handed" so now in golf I am considered left handed. Even though my left hand has little to do with my golf swing. 🤣

Flag distance is irrelevant. Knowing front and where to miss is more important.

Youre not good to need the distance at the flag. Laser the front edge instead (or back edge of a bunker).

I know I'm not that good but if I am at the flag on the green I'll miss somewhere around the green or if I make a good shot land on the green.

If I aim to the side of the green at a bunker then I have to make another shot to get onto the green or a recovery shot to set up a shot to get on the green.

I get what you're saying but its also got some factors left out from each of us. I just see a ton of people miss long. They fly it the right distance, but rolls out to a 10footer now. IE: If your front edge is 170 and pin at 180, and you only have that 180 number -as many people do- you're either 1) landing 180 and rolling long or have gone left/right. If you hit front edge at 170 (pin at 180) and hit your 170 club, you're either landing short and rolling up pin high, or have gone left/right. The left/right miss is inconsequential and highly dependent of each particular hole.

Of course, each hole is unique with their hazards and those should be factored in, but in general with a clear green I don't see people factoring in rollout.

I think there are too many factors as well. I tend to get the flag or if middle of the green or front, middle and back distances are available I'll use those. My distances are pretty good but it's dispersion. If I can end up pin high I'm fine with that, last thing I want is to end up in a bunker as I am awful from them.

This may not be unpopular on WRX, but it is in the mainstream:

-Forgiveness/MOI is most important at the top of the bag, and practically worthless at the bottom end of the bag.

People who crap on those who spend $2k on a putter are just mad they can't afford it, but don't want to admit it.

"I sPenT $100 oN mInE"

No one cares, buy what you like and STFU about what someone else wants to spend.

I have never crapped on someone for what they spend on a putter. It's your money. Somebody has to do it and it sure won't be me (mine was $6 with graphite shaft) 🤣

But like my Corvette, I bought my golf clubs used with very few miles at a significant discount.
