Could a 4 cap beat Lydia Ko?

How many 4 handicappers shoot in 60s regularly at any 6500-6700 yard golf courses let alone tougher tracks? Sorry. Thank you, come again and bring your friends. 

 

On some Korean YouTube channels, they have KLPGA players compete against single-digit amateurs and they just wipe the floor with them. Entertaining videos.

I think the last time this discussion actually was serious it was vs 150th to 200th ranked ladies ... and the 4 would be close a couple times in 10 rounds if it was a longer course and the LPGA players were super short ?  Too lazy to look it up, it was a monster thread

On a serious note, even when I’ve played off 1 or 2 recently I only break par 2 - 5 times a summer.

On a shorter course I don’t see a 3 or a 4 capper beating her. On a 7,700 yard course I think it will be a toss if that 3 or 4 capper is legit.  I just have never played with a legit 3 or 4 handicapper.

Obviously no, but to be fair the original thread was that a 4 cap man would get waxed by a bottom of the barrel LPGA tour player.  Very different premise.  BTW, L.Ko was crushin it...would have loved a bit closer contest at the end.

We have this one guy at our club -  a 4 HC and he's real cocky.  The kind of guy that yells his shadow for not voting and calls the fire department every time someone passes gas.   

 

He claims he can beat anyone if given the chance.

I had the privilege of playing a couple former LPGA players at my home course a few years ago. I was a high 0 at the time, and they had lost their cards and were beginning coaching careers. We all played the blue tees which were around 6500 yards. I was consistently 50+ yards longer and played pretty well and shot a couple under. They shot 65 and 67. Just unreal inside of 50 yards and around/on the green. 

 

They did admit to me they "had a good day" but it was just mind blowing that those two struggled to maintain status.

I love the responses, "if the course is long"...    As if a 7500 yard course isn't also harder for a 3-4 handicapper.   If the 3-4 handicapper is bombing it 320, he probably hits it crooked, has a s@#$ short game or can't putt.  Or he's not a 3.

So what I’m hearing you say is the players on the LPGA are REALLY REALLY good! Hmmm 🤔 who knew! 😂 Seriously though, this should give people perspective on just how unreal they actually are. Somehow people think because they’re not hitting it 300+ that they’re just now that great... So wrong. Next level after the next 10 levels above any 4 hack playing for beer money at “the club” 🙄

I’m probably getting trolled answering this, and if so, good game.  But they are playing at like 6800 and she just shot 10 under.  There isn’t a 4 cap in the world that can ever do that even once...

The LPGA setup is pristine, flawless, and the bunkers are perfectly maintained. The fairways run forever, are divot free, and the greens roll true. No wonder they are so good. Now put that average 4 handicap on the same course, with a knowledgeable caddy and that 4 capper gets crushed. Every single time.

The first 3 rounds this past week, Lydia played equivalent to a +2.5.  How many of the +2s here on WRX think they are going to lose to a 4?

What's legit? I've never seen a 3 or 4 cap that could play a 7700 yard golf course well. Relative to the entirety of golfers 3 or 4 cap is good but relative to people around even scratch they aren't that good.

And I’d imagine a +2 here isn’t just .5 away from Ko or another +2.5 or better LPGA star. That’s a +2.5 in professional, internationally televised tournament golf with 100s of thousands of dollars at stake. Slightly different nerves involved there than a round at the club or a ‘club championship’.

This is so funny how many men think that girls play worse golf. A solid 0 would lose to a LPGA pro 9 out of 10 times. A 4 hcp would lose to Lydia even if she was using irons only... 

 

I have played with pro women players and they are not any worse than the best men I have played with. Personally I think there are few LPGA players that could do fairly in some PGA events. Any PGA player would be proud to have the short game Lydia Ko showed on Sunday.
