Could a 4 cap beat Lydia Ko?

This is so funny how many men think that girls play worse golf. A solid 0 would lose to a LPGA pro 9 out of 10 times. A 4 hcp would lose to Lydia even if she was using irons only...

I have played with pro women players and they are not any worse than the best men I have played with. Personally I think there are few LPGA players that could do fairly in some PGA events. Any PGA player would be proud to have the short game Lydia Ko showed on Sunday.

I know high school girls the 0 is not going to beat.

Some guys just don’t think clearly when they use little brain.

@cardoustie: If not Lydia Ko... would you have a chance against 51-year-old Annika?

A better question and still a solid no..didn’t she just shoot -1 over 4 rounds at lake Nona?  Math says a 4 cap can’t do that.

as to the wrestalmania question, ko would clearly not get disqualified.  She is  an honest competitor and would use her wrestling skills to defeat all three mini Ditkas...

Perhaps if Lydia was hungover and the 4 cap played the best round of his life on his home course which Lydia has never seen, he might win 1 out of 10 times.

On a shorter course I don’t see a 3 or a 4 capper beating her. On a 7,700 yard course I think it will be a toss if that 3 or 4 capper is legit.  I just have never played with a legit 3 or 4 handicapper.

If you did then you would realize they still wouldn't stand much of a chance regardless of course length

I have played with a US college scholarship player who never had any aspirations of turning pro. She's better than 99.99% of all the male golfers I have seen including a bunch that have finished highly in the Canadian Amateur.

The 2 ladies that finished in last at T70 shot +6 for the week.

Would a 4 hdcp break +20  for the week ?

We talking two rounds, or four?

I'd bet the over on +20 for two rounds for the dreaded DFL-MC combo

And I’d imagine a +2 here isn’t just .5 away from Ko or another +2.5 or better LPGA star. That’s a +2.5 in professional, internationally televised tournament golf with 100s of thousands of dollars at stake. Slightly different nerves involved there than a round at the club or a ‘club championship’.

And remember, those first 3 of Ko's rounds would represent the average of the best 8 of the +2.5-capper's recent 20 rounds.

Technically true....but.....a wrx certified tournament tested +2.5 would shoot -5 or better any round he plays. Even better if they move back beyond the tips.

I mean geez, has no one ever read the original thread for crying’ out loud?😳

Same question I've been asking for 3 pages...  Quite a few folks have clearly missed the intended connection or need to do some serious work on expressing sarcasm in their writing.

A male 4 has ZERO chance of ever shooting a 62 at Mission Hills under the same conditions in which Lydia did it..   Lydia is a former #1 and currently #11. So a male 3 or 4 would be the 11th best female on planet earth?  LMAO

Its so comical the level of ignorance I see here every week.

I’d say a 4 person male team of scratch to 5 handicaps would do well to shoot 72 as best ball under tournament conditions.

Isn’t the intent of the handicap system to neutralize the playing field regardless of gender, how far one hits the ball, length of course etc. so if the two are playing the same course and conditions. No way, I found an article online saying Lydia was a +6.5 at one time. No chance a 4 handicap competes with her.

what’s the lowest score this 4 handicap has ever posted?

Be careful.  That +6.5 was most likely a woman's handicap index (in fact almost impossible not to be).  Mixing the index basis brings confusion to the discussion.  Most of the time in these idiotic threads we try and stick to the men's index basis to keep it easy for all you guys. 😉

He probably shot a 69 once, and then came to WRX and asked how good you had to be to make it on tour 😂

Just so both of you guys understand, this was a joke thread that Cardoustie started he is not legitimately asking if a 4 could beat Lydia Ko. There is a famous thread from 5-6 years ago that talked about 4 indexes versus LPGA players that ended up going like 100 pages long LOL...We still make jokes and reference it a lot

But to your comment above , if 4 players with indexes of 0-5 can't shoot a team best ball 72 at an LPGA course in tournament conditions they are lying about their handicaps! I do this every year in a 2 person best ball on a course that is 6700yds with a 74.5/140 rating in a qualifier

According to the grint the average score of a 4 index is 78.9. Lydia Ko;s scoring average was 70.26  So I think you can compare that scoring average  to the scoring average of LK/LPGA and quantify the answer rather easily. Scoring-Targets-2-2-range-1-1024x556.png.dc16d35a5d1b63b4bd64a29347ff0fec.png
