Currently live on a US base in Japan.  They play the US and Japanese national anthems each morning.  Japanese anthem playing as Hideki hit his last putt.  Pretty cool...

I think he's got the game to win any of them, but it's all about the putter with him.

 

Annnnnd while watching Matsuyama's winning putt on TV here in Japan, we actually got a newsflash pop up announcing his win.

I don't think that was necessary.

If you think you're teaching me something you're wrong. You brought Lee into this, not me. Lee never liked playing there for a lot of reasons. A big one was he hit the ball low and the course didn't fit his game.

When Lee played, outside caddies were not allowed.  Angelo didn't get to go with Jack, no one had their own caddie until the 80's.  Lee wasn't made welcome, maybe, but the shoe thing was to make a statement.

Hideki won with a 73 on the final day.

The immediate chasing pack could only muster one player who shot a -2.

The rest couldn't break par.

I told my wife earlier we’d see tears if he won.  I knew he cared that much.  It’s all over his face.  Beautiful thing to see a lifelong achievement come to reality.

Really poor Masters to be honest. The course was great but everyone played very so so. Man what a lame finish.

I've always thought his play in the wind was the biggest thing. His putter runs hot and ice old.
