Steelfiber i95 in 5i not matching rest of set

I cobbled together a 4-P set of PXG 0311’s. The 4 & 5 Gen1 irons were purchased used individually, the 6-P 0311P Gen2’s as a used set. All have SF i95 stiffs but the 5i graphics to tip measurement is off & doesn’t follow the same progression as the others. It appears to be relatively soft stepped. Gapping & flighting inconsistencies haven’t been noticeable so far. Is this just an OCD thing or should I be concerned? WWYD?

Me thinks that's kinda unusual. 

 

I soft-stepped 3-PW set of i110cw "S", and immediately didn't like the feel.  Probably has something to do with why I switched back.  Soft or hard stepping just seems too costly with certain shafts.

I'm going with mostly OCD, unless you let it in your head, you probably won't notice any play delta and since you didn't mention any, seems like you didn't notice any performance issues.

In the age of COVID, a 5i that may fly a yard long is nothing to worry about!

 

P.S. Is a hot 5i the only thing keeping you off the pro tour?

As long as you are playing ok with it no biggie.  If it gets further into your head just buy a new 5 iron shaft and reshaft it.

Try and compare it to another 5I shaft of a built set if you can find one and see if the graphics are off from SF or if it's something else. Based on where the graphics are it can't be that it's not inserted far enough or only 1/4" or so would actually be in the club head and that would fail after a few balls.

Soft stepping the 5 iron a little kinda sounds like a good idea...

Looks like you can swap the 5i and 4i shafts and have the stepping a lot closer than before.

 

Might have to butt extend the 5i shaft since it will be shorter by 1/2".

 

I actually play a complete different shafts in my long irons, so from a perspective of consistency, I dont think it matters.

 

In a perfect world, yes 5i should feel exactly the same as 6i which feels the same as 7i, but in real world, I tend to swing them differently so the "feel" is different anyway.

 

Soft stepping Steelfibers is actually a common practice anyway, since they tend to play bit stiffer to flex.

 

But yes, if it bothersyou, swap them around and it will mostly solve your issues.

Thanks for all the replies and advice. I’ll ignore the difference right now. If I start noticing a performance issue though, I may reshaft the 5 iron.
