Oakley Golf Prizm Sunglasses

Recommended Posts

I have Prizm Dark Golf lenses which are Rx Progressive, they're fantastic.  Flak 2.0 XL frames.  Most Oakley frames allow for interchangeable lenses, so can get more lenses and change as conditions warrant.  I like the Dark Golf Prizm so much, I wear them for driving (car) too.

I'll always swear by Oakleys on the golf course. They literally saved my life 10 years ago, and I just retired the pair Oakley sent me to replace the ones that saved me as part of their "Bloody eye" club.

From 40 yards away I took a golf ball, hit by a driver, right to the center of my right eye. According to the doctor, where the ball hit would have liquified my eye and most likely gone right thru the socket and into the brain. But because of the strength of the oakley lens I only wound up with a broken nose and some minor nerve damage.

I've had the tall task of oakley sunglass shopping during covid, here's what I can suggest:

oakley flak 2.0- large to XL head/face  (most popular model, lots of options)

oakley flak draft- Med to large head/face (easier to interchange lenses but a little heavier)

oakley flak beta- med head/face  (less popular model, not a lot of options)

oakley half jacket 2.0 xl- sm to med head (popular model, lots of options)

oakley quarter jacket- small head, large kids head/face

There are other options as well, but this is a general breakdown for the ones I'm knowledgeable about.

I had the Prizm Golf lenses (Flak 2.0 XL) and last year finally found the Dark Golf Prizm lenses by themselves so swapped and really like them

i think the asian are slightly wider and further from the face but I could be wrong.

Thx

I have a big head and a narrow nose bridge. It is a PITA to find glasses that fit unless I resort to frames with individual nose pieces. Most other frames are too wide across the nose bridge.

I wear about a 7.625 hat and have a small nose.  I found the flak beta to be the best fitting with the draft a close second.

thats really scary and hope that you’re ok now.

I didn’t have anything this bad, but got hit in the face by a brake lever in a motorbike crash, and the doctor again said that the goggles saved my eye. They were a pair of Oakleys and I’ve worn their sunglasses ever since.

The nose had been broken a few times before this, so no loss there. The nerve damage shows when I'm really tired, like 8th straight day at work in the middle of summer and my cheek will start to twitch a little.

Wow. Not nice to have the nerve damage but I guess it’s great that it wasn’t way worse.

Just bumping this thread - is it agreed that the Oakley Prizm is the best lens for golf? Or is there a better alternative at a higher price point available? Nothing better from Maui Jim for instance?

I play the Prism field made for baseball outfield. so great for seeing a white ball in the air and the grass. I like it better them the prim golf lenses light and dark.  It is a a great everyday lense

I've worn the Dark Golf for a couple of years now and really like them. I wear them for everyday wear. They've gotten a few scratches in them so I just recently got some of the Prism Road Black lenses to try. The have the same base color but block more light. I might  also pick up some replacement dark golf lenses and maybe a polarized lense so I have more options to trade out on my Flak 2.0 frames.

I've been wearing the golf lenses for years, starting with the G30. I really like the Prizm Golf as my overall go-to lens both on and off the course (e.g., while driving). I have the Prizm Golf Dark lens and will wear that occasionally, but I tend to stick with the regular golf lens because I don't want a lot of light transmission cut. I like things to still be a little bright, just not as bright as it is with no sunglasses.

Glad to hear there are a lot of fans of the prizm golf dark lenses. I ordered a pair earlier this week. Can't wait to test them out soon.

I just bought a pair with the prizm golf dark lenses a few weeks ago. I love them. I've worn them for two rounds of golf and liked them so much I wear them for driving and hiking.

I wear single vision contacts when I play golf. When driving and hiking I don't wear my contacts and the Oakley lenses still enhance my vision that I don't need to wear my regular glasses to see well.

The standard Prizm Golf lens lets in a TON of light. If you're planning to wear them to cut light/glare, they're not going to cut it. Under a hat brim, they're probably ok -- or if you're looking for color enhancement only, then they're good. But wearing them in bright sunlight with the expectation of cutting light is going to be disappointing.

Definitely go with the Prizm Dark for the best of both worlds.

I picked up the Holbrooks with the pink Prism Golf lenses last Black Friday and they’ve been working well for me. It is much easier for me to track the ball on drives and makes the green contours stand out quite a bit compared to my standard polarized glasses.

I don’t know if they’re the best, but they work pretty well compared to my other glasses.

As for Asian fit, they’re supposed to fit the flatter faces better/more snug. My standard glasses will sometimes slide down my nose and I have to re-adjust at times. But I think it depends on the style and design of the frame. I have a pair of Asian fit Holbrooks and they don’t fit that much different than the standards. I also have Asian fit Frogskins that fit my face better than standard size. 🤷🏻‍♂️
