I have a question for anyone with the holbrook. Do they fit well on your face? I have a smaller framed face and was just curious if everyone liked the Holbrook.

I find the Holbrook fits many different face profiles. I have a fat head and I wear them with no issue, very comfortable design. My buddy has a very slim face and wears them as well, just says there is a bit of a gap under the eye but he has more sunken cheek bones.

I love mine. Haven't had any issues with how they fit on my face. I have a wider face and flatter nose so some sunglasses tend to slide down a little but I haven't noticed that too much with my Holbrook's. I should probably try the "low bridge" fit sunglasses from Oakley but it's not enough of an issue for me with the regular shades to drop more money on new ones.

Ok, thanks, I have a smaller face and high cheek bones but my concern is if the holbrooks hold well around the head when you look down and bend down etc.

Thanks again!

I wish Oakley would allow you to customize the Portal X like they do the holbrooks and others.  I just would prefer I think the non sports style (flak jacket).

I ordered Sutro Lite Sweep Prizm Dark Golf replacement lenses directly from Oakley. When the lenses arrived, I immediately noticed that they were way different than what my other Prizm Dark Golf lenses (on my Mercenaries) are. The base color was purple and they had a green reflection to it. I then did some comparison and they looked exactly like Prizm Road Jade lenses. I contacted Oakley support but to my surprise, they just deemed the lenses to be correct. Of course they did respect the regular return right so it's not like I got outright scammed. The box did say Prizm Dark Golf on it but it seems clear to me that they had just been incorrectly packaged. When I did some searching, I found out another case where a person had ordered them three times and always received the same Prizm Road Jade lenses. In their case, the box had even said Prizm Road Jade on the first two occasions. You can find that case here.

I just thought I'd post this here in case someone else was also looking for golf specific lenses for their Sutro Lites. I've also attached my comparison photos so that you can see for yourselves.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a pair of Oakleys mainly for golf (and hiking) and it seems like the Prizm Dark Golf option is the way to go. I live in a sub-tropical area, and it's really damn sunny usually when I play. Half the time, I can't see my own ball off the tee box, especially if using Driver. It makes finding my ball tougher, because I often can't see where it lands. I figured that I need sunglasses to help improve vision.

I have one question though, when it comes to putting. When reading greens (slope, texture, direction of grains, etc.), would I need to take my sunglasses off? Or, do the sunglasses actually improve my reading of the green? I am very curious. (This probably won't affect my decision to buy a pair, but I'm just curious what existing users of the Prizm Dark Golf lens do when it comes to the putting green.

Thank you.

I have both Prizm Golf and Dark Golf lenses. Not really liking the Dark Golf for anything. Regular Prizm Golf are great.

Do not take them off for putting.

I leave mine on for putting. They are suppose to help you read the greens.

I am wearing them because it is sunny. After taking them off I need a period of time for my eyes to readjust to the lighting. Anytime I take mine off I do it right after my shot while walking or riding to my next shot to allow some adjustment time.

I would try it both ways and see which way works best for you. If I was to take them off for putting I would allow time for your eyes to adjust.

I enjoy the regular lenses, work well in low light environments as well.

I'm the opposite. The color gradient on the regular prizm golf bother my eyes. Everything looks like it's flickering constantly bc the periphery is a different color than the center. Dark golf are more uniform, and I am able to use them for golf.

I do agree the regular ones provide more pop and contrast though.

I'm enjoying my new (lens only) Prizm Sapphire Iridium lens on my Flak 2.0's.  Makes the color green (grass / foliage) really pop out.  I tried the Prizm Golf and though they left too much light through on bright days, and the Dark was just too dark for me.

What's with the high price for adding a prescription to the Prizm Golf lenses? Had a checkup with my local optometrist and afterwards asked about it and they wanted almost $400 for just the lens replacement for my current Oakleys, and that's just for basic single vision adjustment. Looked at oakley.com and they wanted an additional $350 to upgrade the Prizm Golf lens to a prescription. Seems kind of crazy since I can get Oakleys with standard Prizm Golf lenses online for ~$150.

Yes, you found my post.

I ended up buying the Sutro Lite Golf which I like better than Dark Golf and I already have dark golf with the Encoder. I also like the rectangular Sutro Lite better than the Sweep style. I am buying the Corridor Trail Torch and will get them next week.

Idk it's brutal though man.. I spent probably $500 for a pair of Holbrook XL with Prizm Golf a while back. I'd love to try Dark Golf but I'd sooner get Lasik and just start buying normal sunglasses at that point

What Oakley frame(s) are any of you wearing who have a wide melon? It’s not so much the fit on my face that is the issue, it’s the temples too tight over my ears. If glasses fit that way, instant headache.

I’ve been at the sunglasses question for a while and still haven’t ordered, but it is about time….despite being stunned by the size if the check I stroked yesterday for new daily wear glasses. Ouch!

They do list the frame width size on the Oakley website, I think their medium width are in the 130mm range, the Holbrook XL's are considered wide at 140mm. If you have an Oakley store nearby or your local optometrist that sells Oakley frames might be able to make some adjustments, even the plastic frames can be adjusted to some degree.

My head is wide but maybe not like this guy was asking. I have Holbrook XL and flak 2.0 and they don’t feel crazy wider.

Holbrook XL and Sylas XL (Sylas has two frame sizes…).

Based on me trying on Oakley glasses multiple times. I don’t think my head is that big, but those are the two I’ve found that fit the best.
