I completely do not agree that they are more forgiving than the 750 - they're nearly the same club (and intentionally so). They are nowhere near as forgiving as AP2 718 either.    They're a

It’s so early in the season. Maybe it’s...user error? 🙂

Here is a pic of the MC 4 iron sole next to the Miura CB-57. The MC makes it look big which it is not. TXG also showed it has very little help.

I thought they were awesome, super pretty and had a surprising amount of pop, but there is no way I'd play them in a 4, 5, or 6 iron. There's a pretty big gap in Taylormade's lineup between the P770 and the P7MC, but that's what combo sets are for I guess or just get a set of the old P760s.

TM helped the  OG770/760 used market with their current P line up (or maybe they had a lot of NOS to unload of the 760 🙂 as the 7MC is not a forgiving players CB with weight/tungsten etc...I see it as an elite/tour iron. Lovely when centered but ooof its not easy when you are off.

The new P770 is just a different beast, certainly not a players forged CB feel.  I really like it for what it is but if I was to blend them with the P7MC I'd likely only have a 9 and W MC if I was honest with myself. With the older  CB P770 I play them o the 7i easily and could sneak in the 6i as well. Then I switch over to a 790  bent weak to blend but the 5 and 4 with tungsten are pretty forgiving CB's in their own right.

I’ve had my P7MC’s since late last year and I love them!

Are they ‘easy’ to hit...NO....but I wouldn’t call them ‘Hard’ to hit.

For context I’m a 6.2 index and have played AP2, Titleist CB and most recently 2019 P770’s and P750’s

I’d rate these as right up there with the last gen P770 and as forgiving as at least the 718 AP2...they are far more forgiving than the P750’s

I also have. Current gen P770 4 iron but use MC’s from 5 iron down and I LOVE the long irons but haven’t dared to try to hit the MC 4 iron yet!

Dont be scared of them...I like an iron that still challenges me otherwise I get lazy with my swing...for me the P7MC is perfect for this!!

Update.

Just went for a lesson. Hadnt seen my guy for a good 10 months, swing has gotten very flat and standing a bit far away. A good hour with him and i was smoking the 7 iron. To be investigated further......

Don't feel bad , I think all true WRX'ers have blamed new equipment instead of blaming their swing! I think thats why it's good to give new equipment a fair shake especially if you have been fit.

To be clear, they’re amazing irons. I shot 67 with them in the bag my second round out. They’re just not “forgiving “ by any stretch.

I’m coming from a set of 2012  TP MCs and recently ordered the 7MCs 4-7 and MBs 8-PW. Can anyone comment on the difference between those two (TP MC and 7MC/MB)? Prob should have just stuck with 7MCs but I’ve been waiting my whole lefty life for TM blades.

When I tried both the main thing was the bounce. MB is very low. I bent to my normal 4 degree gaps off of a 34 degree 7 iron which left only 1.6 degree of bounce on that club. You could feel it hookup up in the turf a lot. The MC have more bounce through the set which is why I’m guessing you’ll see a lot of their tour guys in them. That said, the MB short irons look way better to me. They’re not fat in the top line at all and they’ve got no offset. They feel incredible. It’s a great set. If I was gaming them I’d have kept the loft on the MB though.

Ok,

So following on. Yesterdays lesson went very well. My guy actually coached Bob McIntyre when he was a youth, which he hadnt told me about before, but it was a nice lead in to the masters chat.

Took him a few minutes to see that i had managed to change my set up so i was standing up miles from the ball, this seemed to be leading to a very flat backswing, and this was leading to me coming in super shallow which probably showed up in the thin shots.

Standing a bit closer, working on my take away and strike made it better last night. Had a range session this afternoon on my own and I was striping these things. Even the 4 iron was launching pretty good. Possibly not as easy as the AP2 4 iron but i was getting it. 6 through wedge was top quality striking, height, compression etc. All there. Certainly by far the best i have hit them since i got them. Also, the feel off those good hits was absolutely superb!

I don't want to get too carried away, one swallow does not a summer make as the saying goes but I am certainly enthused. These things are georgous to look at and if i can get them working consistently like they were today, oh yes........

Back in the bag for the club comp tomorrow.

Glad to hear they are working out after the lesson. Had a sneaking suspicion that getting fit towards the end of the season last year, and not picking up a club for a few months your swing probably isn't quite it tip top shape from last year. I assume once you get the rust fully shaken off you'll be striping them just like you did before and will be much more consistent.

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
