I don't recognize Lydia's caddie. Local looper? That would be a smart move.

I was wondering the same.

I guess Les did retire.

And Jason's Mother's Day gift to Tina didn't impress her.

So who are Wie and Creamer's loops?

Have you noticed Colin Cann has yet to secure a steady bag after his departure from Creamer....he has a great nickname....but it's NSFW.😂

He's on Boutier's bag now.

The first round is over, but it didn't provide any answers while opening up many questions:

  1. I doubt either Mel Reid or Megha Ganne will win the tournament
  2. How many of the Top-10 will stay Top-10 for the tournament?  Brooke Henderson, Lexi Thompson and Shanshan Feng?
  3. Will another surprised Korean move to the top, Jenny Shin at +1?
  4. Will Lydia Ko and Inbee Park continue to sit idle at even?
  5. Will Muni He, who's been playing well and sitting at +1, contend?
  6. Will Lucy Li continue to play well?
  7. Will Rachel Heck and Rose Zhang rebound?
  8. Will the Korda sisters fade to the sunset?
  9. How about Patty Tavatanakit, she's surely better than a +4?
  10. Will Ally Ewing, who's short being a magician in Las Vegas last week, win her second tournament in a row?

The list goes on forever, but everything will start to converge after today.

I still think she's the longest hitter out there, IF she wanted to be. I cant recall how many times her approach shots are two clubs less than others with a similar yardage.

Ariya: "Hold my Singha".

So many caddies wearing KB Financial hats even if their players aren’t sponsored by them. Did KB strike up a deal with caddies?

Amanda Blumenhurst is one of the main commentators on USGA.org’s coverage. She has good insight on what it’s like to be a player but you can tell she really doesn’t follow the LPGA. She said today that Kupcho had qualified for the US Olympic team as things stand among a few other things.

The USGA doesn’t mandate continuous commercial free coverage outside the US. TSN is doing lots of commercial breaks in Canada.

The number of commercials, especially that stupid playing through, is brutal and is making their broadcast almost unwatchable.

The one thing I will say about Brooke is I made a miscalculation judging this tournament and someone also mentioned about how the course would play upthread.  If Brooke's errors are gonna be missing a couple 3 foot putts for par every round but continue her great ball striking I'll take it all day long.  Cause if you're missing fairways and greens your errors can result in much worse than bogey.  But still way too early to draw any conclusions, honestly Lexi looks stout using her iron off the tee, outside her shot on 18, the club is very accurate and very long, quite the weapon on this course, which also means Ariya is probably pretty dangerous as well, if she can get going.  I think Nelly can make the cut if she shoots even par or better today, she seems very prideful but after an opening round 78, we'll have to see where her head is.

I remember Megha from the 2019 U.S. Girls Junior at Sentry World. She finished T12 in the stroke play portion, but was eliminated in a playoff in the first round of match play. Solid play in the first round.

Great to see Lydia bounce back after her rough patch. Gotta avoid the doubles, though.

Yeah, Brooke missed a few short ones, but she wasn't the only one. I'm sure the TV is once again not giving us a sense of the slopes. Throw in the speed on the downhill putts, and we'll see plenty of tentative strokes.

Danielle has to be a little relieved that she managed a +2 after a triple. Plenty of time to climb the leaderboard. 'Just gotta point the ship in the right direction.

Impressed with Lucy's play.

Too many familiar names under the cut line. It's going to be tough to shoot in the 60s, but it is possible.

Yeah, I was actually impressed with the Job Amanda did, she should get some opportunities to do LPGA events should she wish too.

Those were my questions. I was expecting answers from you!

I have been asking myself, is Korean domination on the wane? Yeah, I know the evidences, so probably not.

Lee6 has struggled all year, but is struggling in the right direction. A sneaky USO win for her?

6ix, Jin Young, Inbee, and Hyo Joo, all major winners, are all within striking distance, and have the tools to win this.

I think the picture will be clearer after today, I think it will be tough for players to string multiple under par rounds together.  And if the course gets firmer and faster, this will make it even more difficult.  I still think trying to be at par or a little better going into Sunday, will give you a chance at the trophy, so there are plenty of players who have a shot at this IMO

It's extremely early, but I am definitely keeping an eye on In Gee for this event.  She has played a couple of "reconnaissance" rounds already with member Kay Cockrill.  Her game is returning to her and her mind seems much more unencumbered.  I am glad to see her in a much happier place and her game is "careful" in that she rarely makes mistakes (course management-wise), she has the patience to play what is in front of her, and on a course setup like the USWO, should be a big asset.

@Golf Dino: Here’s hoping InGee can get a good R2 & stay for the weekend (+4 ie t69 after R1!)...

➡️what do you think the cut-line will be, at the halfway mark?

Other than the obvious (missed short putts) Brooke appears to be dialed in.  Just needs to keep her head if she misses some more and not let the train run off the track.  Bogeys are inevitable, stay away from the dreaded others.

Loved watching players like Popov scrape and claw their way back after a big mistake.  So Yeon could have folded as well but didn't.  Same for Lydia.

Lots of respect for Mel Reid's game but I'm not expecting that either she or Ganna are going to be at the top of the board tonight.

Players have to stop getting cute. This is a major, and not a birdie fest. If one misses the green one has to get the ball on the putting surface. Bogies are acceptable. Doubles or worse are not.
