I did a double-take when the announcers said the players finally get a break now that they're on the 6th tee.  Not normally an easy hole!

 

But today playing only 379 yards.  By comparison, the USWO listed yardage is 420.  The member blue tees at 426.  In 2012, the men played it at 489.

For the first round, the ladies played at 6,362 yards. That's the equivalent of the men playing at about 7,484.

For the second round, the ladies are playing at 6,383 yards. That's the equivalent of the men playing at about 7,509. 

 

Pretty sure the men never played a U S Open at those yardages at Olympic. The listed yardages in 2012 were in the 7,100's.

Yep.  Ball doesn't carry at OClub.  Plus, of course, those yardage numbers mask a lot of longer-playing shots with the elevation changes.

Well Brooke blew up in epic proportion, that's one round she'll remember for years.  But if you miss fairways and greens around that's what happens.  She and Brittany gotta speed things up, it was ridiculous at some points.

 

lexi is looking good, let a few shots slip away at the end.  I think she's gonna be there the whole tournament.  Nice bounce back by Patti, her short is sublime, she gonna win lots of Majors I think.

 

Very impressive by Megha, nice to see her holding tough and you also have Inbee and Shan Shan lurking, both are very dangerous in Majors.  Happy Nasa gotta herself in the mix, she's been struggling pretty so far this year.

I honestly didn't expect Brooke to be THAT slow -- never thought I'd include her in the Carlota/Crusty/Aza "bucket slow list".... 

 

You can tell Lexi was "in the zone" until late in the game... Was actually surprised she started to leak some oil but that's the US Open courses for you (eg hard to maintain perfection) - even she said that she hit a perfect shot at one point with her irons but it didn't cooperate (Eg i think the wind accdg to Tripp)

 

Hard NOT to root for Megha... either way, already a well deserved lowest amateur score -- don't think even that statement will jinx it... ☺︎

When was the last time an am led the USWO? Not only that you have 3 in the top 10 including Maja Stark who (relatively speaking) lit up ANGC in the Womens Amateur and it wasn't even close. Keep your eyes on her, she's an amazing player.
