History: This is the 9th year for the event. In 2019, Brooke Henderson successfully defended her title with a four shot victory for the 8th win of her career.

Now the fun begins. 21 straight weeks of golf. 'Nice. Edit: Minus the Blue Bay. Grrr.

 

Remember that this one runs Wednesday through Saturday. Fairly strong field again, although Jin Young is sitting this one out. 

 

Coverage is excellent, especially if you like prime time golf. Weather should be warm, but there's a chance for passing showers each day.

 

Nice to see Hinako, Yuka, Gabriela, and Rose Zhang in the field.

 

I'm going to be lazy this week and go with the easy choice, Brooke. She's due for a solid week of putting. Yeah, it's a different course this year, but she's gotta be motivated for a tree-peat. I have to believe Lydia will be in the hunt again.

Ah my poor Brooke, she dominates this event and it's the perfect place to get her mojo back.  But sadly this year it's on a different course, so I look forward to another great putting stat line this week lol

She's T3 in greens in regulation across 5 different courses this year. I'm sure her ballstriking will be fine. Now, if she can just get the ball to the hole......

Actually Brooke is still a pretty good pick or any good wind player IMO.  It gets very gusty here and Brooke pretty solid in the wind with 2 wins here and in New Zealand if you remember that event.  Anyone who lives or born in Texas might a good pick as well.  But usually a very strong ball striker will be the winner of an event like this.

NOT for the LPGA...........China canceled. That being said, I'm going with Lydia this week, outlier Kupcho. Fingers crossed that Matilda finds her game as I believe she made the field.

Sei Young Kim is one of those players that I would never "write off" as a tournament contender/winner.  My favourite memory of SYK was when she won here back in 2016 or 2015 ... Chipped in greenside to get into a playoff with Inbee then holed out from the Fairway to win it!  The sheer exuberance she demonstrated was matched only by Ha Na Jang!

The measuring holes for driving distance are par 4 #13 and par 5 #17.

 

Hole #13 plays 401 yards and #17 493 yards today.

I would say we could have gotten some extra coverage than that listed but they have Golf Central listed as "live", so they'll definitely go to it.  The feature groups basically tee of at 7 PM ET which would probably give us another hour till they finish up, thought it was possible cause outside 1/2 hour Golf Central they have no original live programing.

Ugh. Slow play drives me nuts. Brooke couldn't have determined her putting line while the Angela and Ariya were doing the same? 

 

She did the same thing with her wedge shot to the hole. Angela hits and only then does she start her process.
