S'all good. I'm a 6 handicap, and so far this season 81 is actually my best score. I seem to be a birdie machine, but I also seem to score a double bogey for each birdie. But like you said, it's early. I just need to work on eliminating the stupid blow ups. But that's only going to happen with more reps.

Worst 95. Best 79. Weather was windy as hell when I shot the 79. Still haven't made a birdie yet this season. Golf is hard.

I'm not a good golfer. I understand and accept that. But every once in a while I can string together a good round and hold it for 9(ish) holes. Usually it's a few pars, average slightly <1 birdie per round, a lot of bogeys, a few doubles, and a couple blow-up holes.

Best 9 hole (pitch & putt, par 29) round this year: +4

Best 18 hole (exec course, par 60, 3670 yards) round this year: +15 after coming in +2 on the front

Worst round two days ago (par 72): +49 or 121

Quite literally I spent the entire round wondering why I'd forgotten how to hit a golf ball. I couldn't even contact the back of the ball with the face of the club, even badly.

I'm gonna try to win widest differential between best and worst rounds of the year since it's early for a lot of you guys.

Best - 75

Worst - 96

I'm right there with you. I have a 93 earlier this year and a 72 recently. Same course. Sometimes we just have bad days and can't get the ball in the hole.

I had back to back 84's in February on a very easy course. It happens. I did break par in April for the first time in a long time. Don't know where that one came from either.

Just to update my worst differential lead - Best 74 Worst 102

I cannot remember how many years its been since I shot a 3 digit score. It was a tournament round and I'm not sure how I survived without snapping a club in half. Solid 13th of 14 in my flight and T100 out of 104 for the entire field after that. Just lucky I didn't DFL after the two rounds I had in that event.

Oh wow, target golf.  Sorta.  It looks very scenic there but in a eerie way.  I love the back drop with the lake?  Where exactly is Arcadia Bluffs?

I’m a 19 index, which is a realistic representation of my skill level.

Breaking 90 consistently is my goal.

Worst:

106 in February

35 putts, 7 FIR, 3 GIR.
CR/SR 71.1/139

PB there is 92

->Culprits: tee game/irons

Best:

90 in April (PB there)

35 putts, 10 FIR, 6 GIR.
CR/SR 69.3/133

If I can get down to 30-32 putts and get the ball in the fairway more often, I’ll break 90 easily. I’m in my 4th season and feel that I could be better, but I’m probably doing ok for a normally skilled person.

Wow, the Bluffs course is not looking great to start off the season. I've played it in late June / July several times over the past few years and that hole (#11 I'm pretty sure) is one of the most beautiful I've ever been fortunate to witness. My guess by the look of the picture is that the greens were pretty bumpy and unpredictable. Also, I feel like you also have to play the Bluffs (and the South) at least 10+ times to start to understand how to navigate the approach shot and definitely the greens which are huge.

For some reason I always have the best ball striking days on the Bluffs course, but I just can't score... hope that makes you feel better dude!

Doesn't make me feel better, haha.  I know exactly what you're talking about where you're striping driver all day and hitting darts into the greens.  Once you're around or on the green, your brain goes dead and you can't chip or putt to save your life and walk off each hole with anything and everything bogey or worst.  Good times........

  • 3 weeks later...

Shot a 95 a couple of weeks ago. I normally shoot mid 80s and threaten going below 80 on rare great days. On this day, I slept liked crap the night before and just felt off. Actually considered bailing on my buds. Knew it was going to be a rough day when I was dropping things, stepping on things, etc. It was a struggle in the front 9 and stabilized it for a bit in the back 9.

Moral of the story for me....got to get good rest the night before especially if you are advancing in years.

Play well.

Just had mine on Saturday - it was woeful! It was a 36 Hole Competition. My afternoon round started off great. Best drive of the day on the 1st, just missed my birdie putt. On the second hole, I ripped my 3 wood. My usual cut didn’t materialise and the fairway bunker I was aiming to cut it off is where my ball finished up. That was kinda the way of it on the front 9 and come the back 9, being my second round of the day, knowing I had no chance of scoring and just losing all the energy I had things went to pot. I had a 7 and two 6’s before I finished with a birdie on the last hole just to cheer me up a little 😂 All told I ended up with an 84. Worst score in years!

I play a lot of easy courses near my house because i like to score. One course is pretty open and straightforward. Had a 79 (par 70 so +9)

harder courses always expose me because i actually suck but can score at easy courses. So, i was expecting to be 89-90 when i went on a golf trip.

However, couple weeks later i lost my swing entirely on a golf trip and had 116 at TPC myrtle. Do i win?
