Talk to me about the md5 wide low bounce

Would like to hear some feedback on this grind. Can anyone share some experience with it?

 

i have access to a deal on some md5 and would like to hear that particular grind, i think it would suit my eye.

Have not tried it but I've been on the questioning end of bounce options. If cost is not a burden then pick one up and try it. No one can tell you if it's good or not. Bounce and playability are all in the hands of the user.

I haven’t tried this wedge, but I had good experience with a wide soled lower bounce 58 vokey... really liked how it played and felt confident with it in most shots.

 

ive since moved on to a narrower sole, as I like to open my 58 and didn’t feel like the sole worked with that as well.

 

id happily play a wide sole sand wedge (but I’d want it to be higher bounce)

I had it in a 58 for  little while. I liked it out of firmer sand or in generally tighter lies but on ground that isn't overly firm either. It still plays like a low bounce wedge so if you have the angle of attack for that and can use a wider sole, you should be fine. You can open it a bit before the leading edge gets too high off the ground. I'm a little too steep and not precise enough to make it work outside of an open faced bunker shot in firm sand. So because it still plays like a low bounce, wedge, it's not right for me. The S10 and W12 in MD5 just work better for me.

Friend of mine has a high bounce W grind MD4, can't chip to save his life with it. I blame the grind and bounce.

 

Low bounce W grind sounds interesting, never tried it though. I am a C or T grind (Callaway) kind of guy.

it’s very similar. I played the MD5 before I made the switch to the SM8s. The Vokeys are a little better for me. The callaway was a little rough on more delicate shots where I think Vokey had the grind mastered a little better
