To be fair, it was probably a full 8 iron, just not a chunked 8 iron like the one he hit.

He's 27 and Phil Mickelson didn't win a major until age 33. Probably can give him some time , he's been in contention a lot. I mean Sergio and Adam Scott ended up winning majors.    He'll ge

Did it not land at least 10-15 yards short of the pin? Even if it were hit on the right side of the green it would be short.

Even if there was wind, was it really strong enough to make up that difference? I think it is a textbook mis-club. Bad caddie work by everyone.

He said "Hit a really good shot there on 16." Really?

"We thought it was down left to right, it was not down left to right"... how do you get that so wrong? No one else seemed to make that mistake.

You made a triple bogey. The 3rd shot was also terrible.

But he seems really happy in the whole interview. Product of maybe winning $667,000 for T3.

The amount of money these guys make for not winning is a real factor out there. Some guys are content to T-10. Someone who really really wants to win would not be so content after this blunder, in my opinion.

This is the topic for a hundred page thread right here.

The old saying, 'Second place is the first loser' does not apply when you can bank $1,242,000 for second place.

Give the winner $3M and cut everyone else's money in half.

It was a werid play and I'm still sceptical that he misjudged the wind.

That said, I don't agree that he was happy with a T3. It was obvious he was hurting like hell in that interview. It was the very definition on "putting a brave face on it".

I wouldn't have begrudged him going off for a big sulk, a la DJ after he lost the US Open at Chamber's Bay, but he came out, answered the questions and took it on the chin. Fair play to him.

And I would say maybe DJ has that fire deep inside that Xander doesn't. I would rather see Xander skip the interview and go break something.

I think he has 17 top 10's since his last win. So he's making bank!

He is a very good actor if he was "hurting like hell in that interview". Seemed fine to me but obviously just my imperfect interpretation.
