Masters 2nd place vs Top 15s

You get to play in five Masters, would you take one 2nd place finish and four missed cuts, or five 10-15th place finishes?

Well played.  Let me amend the post to be a little more specific.

Do you want to live with the agony of a 2nd place finish and what could have been, or a relatively high finish even though you may never have really been in contention.

That is a tough one.  Finishing second would be a thrill, not as good as winning.  On the other hand it could be a heartbreak.  Then again 5 10-15 place finishes is really consistent and that means 5 Sundays at The Masters, possibly in contention.  While 2nd is a terrific honor, I would take the 5 10-15 place finishes because nobody remembers who came in second anyway.

As long as the fifth time is 10-12th place, so I could come back a 6th time.

 

And then I'd miss the cut by 150 strokes.

2nd at the Masters pays high, plus getting into the next major. I think that would top 5 10-15 finishes. Don't think any of the 10 to 15 finishes get you into anything but the next regular event, which is not all that bad unto itself.......

Finishing second was life-changing for Zalatoris. A million bucks, invites to the next 4 majors, as many OWGR points as a high-end regular event. I’d imagine there are some decent endorsement opportunities out there too. The top-15s wouldn’t be nearly as impactful.

I’d take the 5 masters tourney’s. It shows longevity and you don’t have to bare a heartbreak of 2nd place.
