No equipment "needed", but want to make a purchase anyway....what should I buy

Wedges are always safe - especially if you duplicate what you have now.  Can always use a back ups for fresh grooves.

I say get a Ping G425 MAX hybrid.  You will have more fun with it than either shoes or a bag.  I can't get excited about shoes or a bag.  They are necessary, but that's about it.  On the other hand, a new club is fun.

I was in the same boat last year with a little less to spend.  I went Bushnell Wingman speaker, Footjoy 1/2 zip, and a new putter grip (same style, just new).  The speaker is nice, sounds great and the magnetic attachment is super convenient.  I don’t use the gps feature very often (have a watch and laser) but via the app you can type in funny sayings for after your partners hit a shot.  The footjoy 1/2 zip is the tonal heather mid layer.  It’s very nice, has a little stretch and not the crazy thin ones you see on sale (looking at you under armour).  It’s my favorite pullover and I can wear it to work or the course and still look good.

i realized last night i only need to plug a gap in my set, so i am going to look for a fairway wood. Maybe a 5 wood.....

 

played ok but sorely needed a fairway wood because i have a driver, then a hybrid.....never really needed a 3 wood or 5 wood on the courses near me.....could always get by with hitting my hybrid 210 max.....but last night i could have used a 230 club into a par 5.....i think i made my mind up......

 

now i just have to find the right one

Why did nobody suggest a putter?  Everyone needs multiple putters. No putter works 100% of the time.  They are temperamental creatures and you must use the one that is behaving that day.  If you’re not sure which one is behaving, put 2 in the bag and ditch the 9 iron.

I could see having a couple, but I have kept myself to my original (1989) and my current player. But I keep eyeballing classic Ping blades, just love a basic blade.

I have a nice custom Mills i use and also a Wilson 8820 which never seems to fail me over the course of a full round.....however i did leave a 5 foot birdie putt 2 feet short the other day....embarassing.

Great choice! And if you shop wisely and blow them on yourself you’ll have enough left over for a sweet Stitch leather driver cover. Can’t beat that with a 3 iron!
