Should be pretty easy to pick up one for peanuts as they never really took off.  I quite like the Purple in fairways, but haven't had success with any of the others.

I'd call the Purple more comparable to the DI in profile where you feel the kick yet still stable. The White I'd call more of a mid/Blueboard profile and the Black is a different beast where it will take all you can throw at it, without feeling boardy

Gamed the Kiyoshi Purp, tested the white and black and gamed the DI for many years.  Here are my thoughts.  The Kiyoshi white specifically is very smooth feeling.  For me though, the dispersion was a bit loose.  Launches a hair lower than the DI, spin wise similar.  If the DI and Kiyoshi white is really close in terms of performance for you, I would go with what gives you better dispersion.

I agree that they're still great shafts, and have one myself, but I didn't pay $400 US for it.  A few years ago I bought a SLDR for $100 CDN that came with a real deal R1 Branded TM Kiyoshi White.  I didn't really like the SLDR head since it spun too low for me and waited patiently for a TM head to mate with it.  Last year I bought a black TM R1 for $60 with a stock TM ladies flex shaft.  I kept the R1 head, put the ladies shaft in the SLDR head and sold that off for $60.

In the end, I now have a homemade TaylorMade R1 Black Super TP driver for $100 CDN.

I don't think I stuttered when I typed that out.  If you are paying $300-$400 for an Oban, you have more $$$ than brains (and retail pricing means very little unless you have no other options and are desperate).  I've seen the whites that were the stock option in the R1 TP's for as little as $60 locally within the last year.  If any are ever listed (as they aren't used that much anymore), they are in the $150 range (cdn) for purples and blacks.  Even Devotions can be had for $100.

I'm sure you can find them in that price used/pulled

just going by if you want a brand new one, online doing quick search you'll see the Gold and Purple are $360 and White is $400 (Devo $190)

they also put out newer "Reserve" version in last year that I think are same profile, just different graphics and even more retail
