i for sure thought someone would've posted a thread about this by now. I just thought it deserves its own.

 

Ive seen some memorable sports moments but this one, this one, is pretty up there.. returns the pin on 18th, removes his hat, and takes a bow. The sign of respect is truly remarkable. Little did he know, the world saw it. Such a humbling moment.

It's a great moment. It's also been posted/embedded a couple of times in the main Masters thread.

Best part is you can tell it was out of pure and utter respect. He tried to do it so subtly so that no one would see but they still caught it. One of my favorite sports memories, at least in recent years.

I know very little of Japanese culture but the respect and honor they seem to show in life/vocation/moment is very admirable to me.

It was awesome.  The victor bowing to the opponent in a sign of respect after the battle is complete.

It shouldn't, it just shows how awesome their culture is as a whole. Having humility and showing respect doesn't just occur on Sunday at Augusta with cameras on, it happens all the time when it's engrained in your moral fabric. I think some American professionals take for granted how fortunate they are to make the money they do playing such an awesome sport

Agreed- I remember seeing some Japanese fans on TV at the last world cup. After the match they picked up every bit of trash while the rest of the fans left food and beer everywhere

I doubt it, he hasn't had that many wins lately. This move is usually by the tournament winners caddie.

It’s kind of telling that a simple moment of respect makes such an impact.

 

the Japanese are probably confused why many like me think it is such a great moment, it is just part of their culture.  We could all use a little humility, appreciation, and respect these days

I find it even cooler because the past several years I always remember hideki being on the first or 2nd page of the leaderboard. Was always right there. He finally got it. Well deserved, an absolute favorite of mine the past few years and now I feel he is a must watch golfer. Hope the good play continues
