Turning Stone Casino Golf Courses

I will be heading up to the Syracuse area this summer.  I would like to get in a couple of rounds of golf.   have heard good thing about the courses at the Turning Stone Casino.  I see they have three championship courses (Atunyote, Kaluhyat, and Shenendoah) but significant price difference between the Atunyote and the other courses.  Any recommendations about which course to play?  Is Atunyote worth the extra dollars?  Is there somewhere else in the area I should be considering?

My friend played there two years ago and said it was one of the nicest courses he has ever played on, but a little pricey.  I think he stayed on site too.

Based on my experience, yes,  Atunyote is one of the best conditioned courses I have ever played.

Atunyote is a former PGA tour stop it is outstanding.  Kaluhyat (i haven't played it in 10 years) but remember it is very challenging; maybe a notch or two below Atunyote in design/conditioning but still a great option.  I think Shenendoah is solid but probably #3 on the list; probably more playable for a broader range of golfers.

I've played Atunyote and  Kaluhyat only a couple of times years ago. Atunyote is the nicest of the three, but IMO, not enough better than Shenandoah to pay the premium. Kaluhyat is a faux links, more open than the other two, and very tough. It was the third choice of the group I payed with. Shenandoah is the course I come back to play. It is the best bang for the buck of the three and I've always had a fun round playing it.

Edit: Changed the booking to take advantage of the replay rate and am going to play Kaluhyat in the am and Atunyote in the afternoon.  Cannot wait!

Played Kaluhyat this morning and Atunyote this afternoon. I really liked both courses a lot. We ended up getting an early bird price at Kaluhyat and then it was $100 to play Atunyote. So for two of us for two rounds the total was $320 I want to say. If you can do that then I would recommend it because for $160 a man you get 36 holes and it’s awesome.

 

I think Atunyote would be the course of the two I would want to play more frequently, but I couldn’t complain much about either. I will say Atunyote had more consistent greens, speed wise. At Kaluhyat some were fast and a couple seemed like Velcro. All in all this was a trip with my son I won’t soon forget. The day truly did go by too quickly.

Got out to Turning Stone for the first time this past October. Me and a buddy started at Shenendoah, which I think might've been my favorite. It's a course you can play everyday and enjoy it. Felt like we were the only ones on the course.

 

Next day we did Atunyote and that place was also pretty spectacular. Really cool drive up, impeccable conditions and just an overall great golf course. A notch above Shenendoah on the toughness scale.

 

We rounded out the trip with Kahluyat. That course was also beautiful and well maintained, but brutally tough. Bring your game for that one.

 

I'm about three hours from Syracuse and will be heading up to Turning Stone annually. It's a great spot with three really great courses.

I live about an hour away.  Shenandoah is a links course with large, tricky greens.  Kahluyat is beautiful but way too tricked out for my liking.  I lost many a ball playing from the tips which I had no business doing.  Atunyote is just a beautiful classic layout.  built to eventually host a tour event because Shenandoah was determined to be too close to the Thruway.  All three are very enjoyable.
