TS3 v Latest Drivers? Worth the upgrade $$?

TS3 drivers V the latest and greatest. Worth the upgrade and $$ or still a solid performer?

A lot of online reviews are showing minimal improvements. Slightly faster ball speed, less spin etc, but is it ever enough to warrant an upgrade?

IMHO, definitely not. The TS3 is an excellent driver, and if you're looking to upgrade for more distance, accuracy, forgiveness, you won't get it. Saying that, and as hypocritical as this might sound, my current gamer is a TS3. While I could easily stay with it for years to come, I have a Mizuno ST-X on the way. Only reason, I'm looking to replace the TS3, is I just never got along with the sound. Just too loud for me, but probably not for most. It's just me.

Currently game a TS3 and while it does hit bombs when you catch the middle it is very unforgiving if not. Driving being a weakness in my game currently I'm looking elsewhere. Also never was that crazy about the sound. Much bigger fan of the carbon "smack", so got a SIM 2 on the way.

Heard really good things about the TSi series though. I'm just moving away from Titleist drivers.

Short answer 'no' long answer 'maybe'.

Driver tech does not change enough to warrant an upgrade from any 2 year old driver. Now if your 2 year old drive does not fit you well, then yes an 'upgrade' is fine, but you would do just as well in the used market.

Over a season on Arccos or similar I would very much doubt you'd see anything more than a yard or two in it. Seriously. I've hit everything new vs my Mavrik and nothing is longer. I hit EFSZ next to my Mavrik and they're the same the Mav just sounds better. We have marketing shoved down our throats - you're leaving basically nothing on the table. If you have the money get fit and go for it but for me, drivers are massively about confidence over the ball. I think we that change a lot take for granted how important it is to feel comfort with what's in your hands...

I picked up 10m carry going from TS3 to TSi4 so i would say very much worth the upgrade the TSi series is 👍

The two drivers are pretty different heads. If you got the gain from the TS3 - TSi3 with the same shaft that is an 'upgrade', what you did was change drivers. One being 2 years old tech and one being this years tech likely plays little into it, you just found a setup that fit you better.

For most of us, in theory there is a better fitting driver out there for us, but it is not necessarily the most recent one.

I moved on from the TS2 to the Tsi2 and couldn’t be happier. For me it was more about dialing in dispersion.  A better fitting helped. I found a stiffer shaft was needed in my case and instead of waiting to try different shafts in the TS2 I was able to find a shaft that fit better in the newer option. So I made a few trade ins.

I do like the feel off the face more in this club and I may lose one /two out of ten drives on me. The others just want to fly straight and far. Distance gain from club to club probably minimal though at best on my best hits with both Drivers.

Similarly, I've been lusting after new drivers ever since the SIM came out, and the TSi3 has about put me over the top, but I was reminded by a round on Thursday averaging 305 and 9 fairways hit, I just can't imagine there are going to be much in the way of material gains over my M5.

That said, if I can round up the extra scratch, later this year we're going to fly down to Carlsbad to visit the in-laws and I'm going to do a woods fitting at the TPI. 😁

I upgraded from a TS3 to TSi3. Performance was close, I was getting slightly more out of the TSi3, not normally enough to make a change.. but my biggest complaint with the TS3 was the sound and I think the TSi3 sounds perfect, so I upgraded. I also didn't pay full price for my driver and got a deal on the head.

The only thing the TS3 can suffer from is instability due to being very low CG and average in terms of MOI/forgiveness. The TSi3 seems to be more stable and has a more traditional look and (to some) better acoustics, basically just a refinement of the TS3. For some people that refinement makes a big differences (higher MOI, shape/sound) but for others maybe not so much. JT and Cantlay are still using their TS3s.
