I am retired, however, I used to build laser weapons systems.  I wrote modeling/simulation code, real-time control code, did system engineering, system design and field testing.

Of all the threads for someone not to mention their CEO job....

I’m the unofficial-emotional-and-spiritual-leader of golfWRX

I am a grant writer/manager in the non-profit sector.

Lady and they were not anti-personnel weapons although they would certainly ruin your day if used in that capacity.

Either way that's a bad*ss job.

I have worked with a company that did laser systems for rangefinding in hunting and golf applications.

I also was the system operator for most of our tests.  Sounds more glamorous than it really was because most targets require an automated response.  Sit back, eat a donut, drink coffee and watch things get blown away.  I did get to shoot down a couple of UAVs though.

I started in the stock room at HP in the 70's and wound up writing software for automated test systems in the fiber optic module business when I retired.  Did a lot of stuff in between and had some fun along the way...  The workplace environment has certainly changed a bit from when there was smoker at every other desk and floor to ceiling pictures of naked women in the machine shop.  Things were different in those days, lol not better and not worse just a little different.  One thing that has not changed is that good people are good people and fun to work with.  I met a lot of good people along the way!

Former prosecutor, now managing attorney of large criminal defense firm

Well that was a bit of a flip-flop, lol.

For the last 15 of my 20 years in the subsea oil and gas industry, I was an inspector & quality engineer for a major oil company. After seeing the writing on the wall, 3 weeks ago I accepted a position as a project manager over the offshore service group of a subsea services and manufacturing company. I’ve worked with this company as their customer on and off over the past 18 years, and know everyone from the CEO down to the shop hands. It was a family owned business from inception in 97 till 2 years ago when the board of directors took over and replaced the CEO. Now it is run like a proper business and we’re thriving. I’ve only been there 3 weeks, and I’ve gotten 5 projects in that time (just got one today actually). There’s 5 project managers, and we all have full plates with new jobs coming in a couple a week.

An actual full time professional farmer/rancher.

I just assume based on every movie i've seen that Ranchers spend most of their time defending their property from drug dealers using innovative rudimentary weapons, and sometimes maybe an old rifle.

Is that pretty much it?

Yep, you have it pretty much nailed.  If it's not cartels, it's rustlers and horse thieves.
