Anyone watching? I’m really enjoying the fact that the course looks like a regular public course. Probably the time of year, maybe someone from Europe has more info on the course?

Wow....

I'm watching.  I like the fact that they are all dressed up in ski gear.

I thought he was a dead man walking. That shot was top notch, and they play the hole for a 5th time.

Lol, never heard of they guy who is leading. Just shows how quickly things change. Apparently he has one 2 of the last 12 tournaments.

I was watching the tournament on record.  Was anyone else a bit disappointed they were using a par-3 for the playoff?  Had it only been the first hole, fine, but to just keep playing it over and over.....  Would have liked to see guys have to deal with fairway bunkers, etc., a bit.

Feel bad for Kieffer, though.  Horrible way to lose a playoff on the 5th hole.

I agree that it got a little boring and repetitive.  But 18 is a par 3 so for expediency it sort of made sense.  That front right pin was difficult and I don't think they expected a playoff would go that long but these guys kept gunning for it.  Feel bad for Keiffer - you want to see a playoff won with a great shot.  In some ways it was on the 4th playoff hole when Catlin made par from the bunker with an outrageously good bunker shot.  Also the course layout and routing may not have made for good spectator viewing for those at the course.  Not sure.

Glad to see that no, or very little, luck involved in this playoff.  Keiffer just put too much spin on the ball from the drop zone.

I recall from a few years back, in a LPGA from Beijing China, Stacy Lewis and Fang ShanShan tied at the 18th.  Stacy on the green and Fang hit her ball into the front pond, except the ball hit a rock on the edge and bounced up to the green to near the pin.  Total luck but the Chinese 'patrons' were overjoyed.

I saw Catlin win at Valderama last year in even worse conditions for scoring with goofy winds and cork trees seemingly snatching balls out of the air.  The more challenging the conditions the better he seems to play.   He is a real grinder.  But unless the Ryder Cup is due for really bad weather there are better fits for the U.S. team.  He reminds me of Ben Curtis a little.  He isn't on the leader board often but when he has a chance to win he won't go away.

There might be better fits but playing amongst and having success against European players should count for something. Many of the better fits don’t seem to all that great during the competition.

I guess my issue is with a par 3, there really isn't that many opportunities for things to happen.  Sure there was water, but put it in the middle of the green, make par, then do it again and now you know the line...A par 4 or 5 has more opportunities for a mishit, a fairway bunker....  what were they hitting, 8-iron?

I think Catlin was hitting 7i. Not sure about Kieffer. It was cold so ball wasn't carrying.
