Best 4 Hybrid head?

00bolt

Recommended Posts

I haven’t played a hybrid club in probably 10 years. Want to play around with replacing my 4 iron with a hybrid.

I want to try a Ventus Velocore hybrid shaft. So I’m buying one of those separate and then going to try and find a 4 hybrid head only on eBay or somewhere.

that said. What’s a good hybrid? Doesn’t have to be 2021 model. Could be anything from Past couple years. I was looking at G410 to match my driver because it has all the loft and lie adjustments which is nice. But I’m open to any and all suggestions

Try the Ping 425 Hybrid, TM Sim Max, TEE

The 425 is getting raves for spin consistency and its magic construction.

I play a SIM Max in an Accra FX 2.0 200 series, have a TEE EXS220 in GD AD HY 65 .. both are good. Hit a few shots with the 425 - I'm not sold on Ping Stock Shafts fitting me ... but what I'm saying is there are a lot of good hybrids ... what fits you?

The pxg hybrids are absurdly good. Gen 1 or gen 2. I haven’t hit the new ones yet but they are the best hybrids I’ve ever owned

I agree - played Gen 1 Hybrids for 5 yrs. But I've heard the Ping 425 hybrid has some magic pixy dust in it

Big fan of the new SIM2.  I have mine with a real Ventus in it (not the stock TM crap).  It’s pretty wonderful.

I’d also take a solid look at the Titleist 818 series.  Both H1 or H2.  I gamed them both for years.  They are absurdly good; and can very easily be made anti-left.

I play a g410 22* 4 hybrid.  If you’re partial towards matching your driver, just get it.  It is easy to hit and elevate, easy to hit out of the rough, can be flighted down, can set up flat and open to become fade biased.  It checks all of the boxes for a long iron replacement.  It might be about a club longer than your 4 iron if you are playing traditional lofts, but you can always go with the 5 hybrid in that case.  The only bad thing is that the finish really wears if you hit on a grass range with sandy soil.

I have a BB19 4h that is super hot. Too hot to be honest, but I've hit some crazy shots with it. Easy to find under $90. I really like the Tensei Orange shaft in it. I swap a Recoil in occasionally that is great to. That said, I gamed an M3 4h today a buddy gave me. It's a fantastic club. Solid on impact and easy to hit.

For taking out the left side, for a right hand golfer...PXG Gen2 and Mizzy CLK are both nice with the flat settings.

PXG takes it a step further with allowing easy redistribution of heavy weights to the toe for added anti left insurance.

I love my Sim Max 4Hybrid from last year. its 22 degree and I use it all the time.

I love mine as well.  Has some pop to it.  Also, it goes straight and i don't fear the dreaded left miss like some of my old hybrids of the past.

Best 4 hybrid is one that flies higher than your 4 iron, carries about 5-10 yards longer than your 4 iron, and yet stops quicker like a 6 iron.

I would say for 2 or 3 hybrid, its more about distance but I feel like 4 hybrid should be more versatile, like when you are in 5 iron distance but bad lie, carry over hazard etc.

PING have always been consistent in terms of spin and launch with minimal hot spots. The new G425 is no exception.

I have a lot of Mizunos and they are very good. Feel is bit more harsh than I like but launch angle is very consistent for me.

TM stuff is waay too hot for me for it to be reliable from certain distances.

Cally makes good stuff, especially the PRO versions with smaller footprint.

Ones Im gaming are the new Srixon ZX and they are wonderful. ❤️

I'm going to second the Sub70 hybrid.  I've been using them for quite some time and they just perform well and are priced great.  I found that the 5 hybrid covers my 4 iron distance so be careful with whatever you end up to consider that so your gaps get covered.

i was looking for the 4 hybrid for quiet a while now.

tested the TM sim2 rescue, sim2 max rescue, g425, mizuno, srixon and the newest titleist (well those were available at the shop to try).
went with the tsi2 in 24° (nr5). the 21° was to long and to close to my 5-wood. lies really square goes high and straight.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I’ve never had a PXG wood of any sort. I did have the Gen 1 irons and didn’t like them. But have a buddy with a bag of PXG woods and swears by them. But he’s a lefty.   I found a good deal on a 2021 0211 hybrid and grabbed it. So we’ll see, hopefully I like it if not can always sell and get something else. ...... thanks again.

love the TS2 hybrid I use. Ping 425 looks really good. Used cobra for a while but don't like their newer ones. Tried the callaway apex which was ok but only try that if you miss left all the time. Haven't given TM a chance since I don't get along with their woods.

I would have to agree. I used my daughter's 5 and 6 hybrids when I walk with her while playing with my skeleton set (5 clubs) and her 5 hybrid rescued me more than few times. I might put it in my bag permanently. LOL
